Abstract: This invention relates to use of surfactants, such as demulsifiers as illustrated by oxyalkylated phenol-aldehyde resins, as antistatic agents in organic fluids such as hydrocarbon fuels. These surfactants are also capable of synergistically enhancing the effect of other antistatic agents.
Abstract: This invention relates to non-halogen salts of nitrogen and/or nitrogen-sulfur heterocyclics as corrosion inhibitors for stainless steel-containing systems. These are more effective as corrosion inhibitors when employed in combination with surfactants, preferably of the non-ionic type such as oxyalkylates.
Abstract: A desalter/dehydrater having a plurality of electrified coalescing stages in a single vessel wherein the stages are isolated hydraulically to allow parallel or serial stage operation and the emulsion being treated is introduced at one side of the vessel and caused to flow to the opposite side between horizontal planar permeable electrodes. In one embodiment, several electrical stages are operated in parallel to increase vessel throughput capacity. In another embodiment, series operation is employed, wherein each successive stage receives the product from the preceding stage as feed, with fresh water being added. The number of stages is one less than the number of the electrodes.
Abstract: This invention relates to a composition comprising:(1) polymer acids such as dimer or trimer acids and mixtures thereof, and(2) an alkyl succinic acid or the anhydride thereof, and the weight ratios of (1) to (2) being less than about 3 to 1; and to the use thereof as a corrosion inhibitor.Preferably the weight ratio of (1) to (2) is about 2 to 1 or less and the polymer acid is predominantly trimer acid.

Abstract: Novel demulsifier compositions, their method of preparation and use as demulsifiers are described. The novel demulsifiers comprise the partially condensed reaction product of a blend of at least two oxyalkylated materials with a vinyl monomer. The demulsifiers are useful in the resolution of water-in-oil emulsions.
Abstract: This invention relates to a beeswax substitute which comprises a blend of:(1) an ester of a linear alcohol having at least about 14 carbons and a carboxylic acid or anhydride having at least 2 carbons(2) an oxidized wax having at least 22 carbons, an(3) preferably, a fatty acid having at least about 9 carbons;and to products formed therefrom such as cosmetic emulsions, etc.

Abstract: This invention relates to the use of phospho-compositions, for example phosphates, pyrophosphates, polyphosphates, organophosphates, etc., as corrosion inhibitors in oxygen-containing aqueous systems of particulate matter such as slurries of solids, such as coal, etc.
Abstract: This invention relates to a sulfidic process of inhibiting corrosion which comprises heating a system with a sulfur-containing polycarboxylic acid or derivatives thereof having carboxylic groups attached to adjacent carbons.
Abstract: This invention relates to Thioureylene prepared by reacting an oxyalkylated polyamine with thiourea and to uses of such Thioureylene for example in removing oils, solids, and combinations thereof from aqueous systems, etc.
Abstract: This invention relates to compositions comprising (1) acrylic-type ester-acrylonitrile copolymers and (2) polymeric polyamines; and to such compositions in combination with organic liquids such as hydrocarbon fluids in which such compositions are effective as antistatic agents.
Abstract: This invention relates to the preparation of penta-alkyl (or aralkyl)-substituted 1,3,7-triazabicyclo (3,3,1) non-3-enes (TBN's) and trialkyl (or aralkyl)-substituted tetrahydropyrimidines (THP's) by reacting trialkyl (or aralkyl)-hexahydrotriazines and/or N,N'-dialkylidene 1,1-diamino alkanes in the presence of a Lewis acid; and to the products thereof.
Abstract: This invention relates to a process of reducing 2,4,5-trialkyl 2,3,4,5-tetrahydropyrimidine and/or 2,5,6,8,9-pentaalkyl 1,3,7-triazabicyclo (3,3,1) non-3-enes to yield 2,4,5-trialkylhexahydropyrimides and/or 2,4,5,6-tetraalkyl-5-(2-azoalkyl) hexahydropyrimidines; and to the cleavage of the above reduced products so as to convert the above hexahydropyrimides from cyclic amines to corresponding linear diamines and triamines. This invention also relates to the products produced by the processes.
