Abstract: In a method and printing apparatus to print a continuous printing substrate, a liquid film with toner and courier fluid is transported to a charge image carrier to develop charge images into toner images. Transport pairs are used comprising rotating transport members in the transport of the liquid film to the charge image carrier and from the charge image carrier to the printing substrate. Given a changing print speed of the printing apparatus at least one of the respective transport pairs is adjusted to provide a respective separation of the transport members from one another so that a substantially same quantity of the liquid film is always conveyed by the respective transport pair.
Abstract: In a system or method to detect an electrical potential and layer thickness of a layer of toner particles in a printer or copier, a measurement arrangement is provided having a first electrode and at least one second electrode situated opposite the first electrode. An intermediate image carrier is provided on a surface of which a toner image is generated. A drive unit drives the intermediate image carrier so that its surface is directed past the first electrode situated opposite the surface. An evaluation unit is electrically connected with the first electrode. The evaluation unit detects an electrical current flowing between the first electrode and the evaluation unit. The evaluation unit determines an electrical charge of toner particles arranged in a detection region in a first measurement procedure with aid of the detected current. The evaluation unit also determines the layer thickness of the layer of toner particles in an inked region via at least one second measurement procedure.

A friction element is provided after the scoop element adjacent to the transfer element at such a distance from the transfer element that a gap between the transfer element and the friction element is substantially completely filled with the carrier fluid, the friction element and the transfer element rotating with different speeds. Residual toner remaining on the transfer element after the transfer printing is loosened by friction forces.
Abstract: In a method or system for reception from a sender of a print data with a print job by a print server of a first printing system from a sender, with the print server of the first printing system acknowledging to the sender correct receipt of a predetermined data unit of print data according to a predetermined protocol. With the print server of the first printing system copying the print data to a mirror print server of a second printing system separate from the print server of the first printing system before execution of the respective acknowledgement for the predetermined data unit, and automatically using as a print server for continued execution of the print job given problems in storage of the print data on the print server of the first printing system, said mirror print server of the second printing system.

Abstract: In a converter unit to convert control information to be transferred between at least first and second processing units of a printing or copying system, at least one first data interface is provided according to a first interface standard for exchange of control information between the converter unit and at least the first processing unit. A control signal interface is provided for at least one signal line between the converter unit and the first processing unit, the signal line being associated with one control signal. At least one real-time-capable second data interface according to a second interface standard is provided for exchange of control information between the converter unit and at least the second processing unit. The converter unit converts data conforming to a signal state of the control signal into data according to the second interface standard and conforming to the real-time-capable second data interface.
Abstract: In an electrographic printing device a plurality of printing groups each have a respective plurality of developer stations. A plurality of toner reservoirs are each connected via a respective toner transport channel with one or more of the developer stations. Each of the toner reservoirs outside of the printing groups is stored in a respective toner transport unit. Each of the toner reservoirs is provided with a first circuit having a memory in which is stored at least a color filled into the respective toner reservoir. A respective second circuit with a memory is associated with each of the toner transport units. These memories have stored therein at least the respective toner color filled into the respective stored toner reservoir. A respective third circuit with a memory is provided for each developer station, the respective third circuit memory having stored therein at least a toner color filled into the respective developer station.
Abstract: A recording medium is moved to a transfer printing station and print images are transfer-printed. The recording medium is transported to a fixing station. A print stop is initiated whereby the recording medium is halted, a further transfer printing is prevented, and a fixing is deactivated. It is checked whether a transfer-printed but unfixed page is still located in the printing apparatus. If so, a warning notification is automatically generated. A query is made as to whether an operating command has been input. If so, it is checked whether the unfixed page would also be output unfixed. If no, the operating command is executed. If yes, the print stop is automatically maintained. It is also inspected as to whether the unfixed page would be output upon execution of an additional operating command. If no, the additional operating command is executed. If yes, an error message is automatically generated.

Abstract: In a roller to affect a temperature of a print substrate in a digital printer, a hollow roll is mounted to a shaft. Channels are provided for a heat transport medium in the hollow wall. A roller shell of the hollow roll is comprised of arc-shaped segments extending over a width of the hollow roll. The segments end laterally in arms designed so that the arms of adjacent segments are connected to each other. The channels extend over the width of the hollow roll and are assembled respectively from the segments of the roller shell. A respective covering plate is clamped between the arms of the respective segments.
Abstract: For operation of a data bus to which multiple bus participants each with a respective serial number are connected, a new bus participant is connected. A request bus message is generated by the new bus participant containing a preliminary participant identification number. The request bus message is arbitrated in the data bus by means of the identification number. A final participant identification number is assigned for the new bus participant having fewer digits than the serial number of the new participant. The final participant identification number is used for further bus messages by the new bus participant. During an initialization bus messages are used with an identifier in which a complete serial number is entered as the identifier. After the initialization a different type of bus message is used that has a shorter identifier.
