  • Patent number: 8909813
Abstract: A method for processing communication traffic includes receiving an incoming stream of compressed data conveyed by a sequence of data packets, each containing a respective portion of the compressed data. The respective portion of the compressed data contained in the first packet is stored in a buffer, having a predefined buffer size. Upon receiving a subsequent packet, at least a part of the compressed data stored in the buffer and the respective portion of the compressed data contained in the subsequent packet are decompressed, thereby providing decompressed data. A most recent part of the decompressed data that is within the buffer size is recompressed and stored in the buffer.

  • Patent number: 8874412
Abstract: Data clustering is provided according to a dynamical framework based on quantum mechanical time evolution of states corresponding to data points. To expedite computations, we can approximate the time-dependent Hamiltonian formalism by a truncated calculation within a set of Gaussian wave-functions (coherent states) centered around the original points. This allows for analytic evaluation of the time evolution of all such states, opening up the possibility of exploration of relationships among data-points through observation of varying dynamical-distances among points and convergence of points into clusters. This formalism may be further supplemented by preprocessing, such as dimensional reduction through singular value decomposition and/or feature filtering.

  • Publication number: 20140304278
Abstract: A method of mapping a collection of images, or other higher dimensional items including text documents, and three-and-higher dimensional objects, onto a navigable grid for browsing via a user interface comprises obtaining for each of the images a list of nearest neighbor images and similarity scores for each nearest neighbor; placing a first image on a cell within a grid; from a respective list of nearest neighbors of said first image, finding images that maximize a compatibility score with images already placed on the grid and placing resulting images on neighboring cells; and continuing to place further images on the grid until all cells visible to a user are filled with images. As the user pans or zooms the grid, more cells move into the visible area of the screen and are filled with images in the same way.

  • Patent number: 8832518
Abstract: Data bits to be encoded are split into a plurality of subgroups. Each subgroup is encoded separately to generate a corresponding codeword. Selected subsets are removed from the corresponding codewords, leaving behind shortened codewords, and are many-to-one transformed to condensed bits. The final codeword is a combination of the shortened codewords and the condensed bits. A representation of the final codeword is decoded by being partitioned to a selected subset and a plurality of remaining subsets. Each remaining subset is decoded separately. A subset whose decoding is terminated is decoded again, at least in part according to the selected subset. If the encoding and decoding are systematic then the selected subsets are of parity bits.
