Abstract: An isolated recombinant influenza virus is provided having PA, PB1, PB2, NP, NS, M, NA and HA viral segments, wherein the PB1 viral segment encodes a PB1 with a residue other than isoleucine at position 711 or the M viral segment encodes a M1 with a residue other than methionine at position 128, wherein the recombinant influenza virus has enhanced replication relative to a corresponding influenza virus having a PB1 viral segment that encodes a PB1 with an isoleucine at position 711 or having a M viral segment that encodes a M1 with methionine at position 128, as well as methods of making and using the virus.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a continuous scanning method using signal shielding and an apparatus for the continuous scanning method. The continuous scanning method includes producing a magnetic field on consecutively input samples by applying a signal to an excitation solenoid coil, blocking signal detection in a partial region so that only one harmonic peak is detected by a detection solenoid coil, which is a differential coil, using a magnetic field produced by at least one magnet, and sequentially detecting one harmonic peak in the samples based on the detection solenoid coil, and performing scanning of nanomagnetic particles on respective samples based on a signal for the detected harmonic peak.

Abstract: A method of forming a probe, wherein the method includes converting cholenic acid into a compound with a terminal alkyne group, wherein the converting the cholenic acid comprises using a sequence, wherein the sequence comprises synthesizing a THP-protection group, LiAlH4 reduction, Dess-Martin oxidation, and Seyferth-Gilbert-Bestmann homologation. Abstract: A noise management system for a window includes an active noise control (ANC) module and a passive sound absorbing module. The ANC module is disposed in or adjacent a ventilation channel of the window and configured to substantially cancel low-frequency noise entering the ventilation channel. The passive sound absorbing module is disposed in or adjacent to the ventilation channel and configured to absorb both high-frequency noise entering the channel and harmonic sounds generated by the ANC module.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a method for aiding prediction of the likelihood of progression from Barrett's esophagus to high grade dysplasia or esophageal adenocarcinoma in a subject, is disclosed. The method can include (a) providing an oesophagal sample from said subject (b) determining if said sample stains abnormally with Aspergillus oryzae lectin; (c) determining if there is a DNA content abnormality in said sample; and (d) determining if there is low grade dysplasia in said sample; wherein if (b) is abnormal and (c) is abnormal and low grade dysplasia is present, then an increased likelihood of progression is determined. Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition for immunostaining cleared large tissues and a method for immunostaining cleared large biological tissues using the same. The composition for immunostaining cleared large tissues increases antibody permeability in cleared biological tissues, in particular, large biological tissues having a thickness of 3 mm or more, to allow antibodies to penetrate deep into thick tissues, thereby overcoming immunostaining problems associated with limited permeation of antibodies in existing methods, reduces the time required for immunostaining large tissues, thereby enabling simple and rapid three-dimensional bioimaging with high resolution for large biological tissues, and may be beneficially used, through structure images, for identifying the causes of various diseases, developing new treatment methods, and predicting the efficacy and toxicity of drugs.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining a pose of an object held by a flexible end effector of a robot are disclosed. A method of determining a pose of the object includes receiving tactile data from tactile sensors, receiving curvature data from curvature sensors, determining a plurality of segments of the flexible end effector from the curvature data, assigning a frame to each segment, determining a location of each point of contact between the object and the flexible end effector from the tactile data, calculating a set of relative transformations and determining a location of each point relative to one of the frames, generating continuous data from the determined location of each point, and providing the continuous data to a pose determination algorithm that uses the continuous data to determine the pose of the object.

Abstract: A solid particle aerosol development device form fogs of solid (e.g., frozen) fountain solution particles that are charged, and brings the charged solid fountain solution particles into proximity of an electrostatic charged image pattern on a imaging member's charge retentive surface. The charged solid fountain solution particles bond to the charge retentive surface at the charged image pattern to develop that image into a fountain solution latent image. The solid particle aerosol development devices produce solid fountain solution particles to develop electrostatic latent images while mitigating issues of evaporation and vapor production, and thus may apply fine films of fountain solution which may otherwise evaporate. In examples, the fountain solution aerosol development devices may include an anilox member, a metering member in contact with the anilox member, a fountain solution reservoir, a particle charger and a particle delivery baffle.
