Abstract: A distributed system includes a plurality of compute nodes configured to process messages. The compute nodes each process messages corresponding an assigned value of a common parameter of the messages. The values are assigned to the compute nodes such that two or more compute nodes are available to process each message. The values can be assigned to the compute nodes in a grouping configuration or a striping configuration. The compute nodes also circulate one or more tokens among nodes, and perform a self-maintenance operation during a given state of possession of the token. During a self-maintenance operation, the values assigned to the compute node can be reassigned to other compute nodes to ensure processing of corresponding messages.

Abstract: Electrical stimulation of specific facial and lingual nerves creates a more sustained pulsatility activity compared to stimulation of other cranial nerves. Pulsatility of arteries has intrinsic time constraints related to the time for vasodilation/constriction and time to return to baseline (TBL) after electrical stimulation which may affect the pulsatility response. Control of temporal patterning and the stimulation waveform maximizes the physiological response to cerebral pulsatility and its resulting effects on cerebral spinal fluid penetration into the brain parenchyma for a multitude of therapeutic uses including clearing misfolded proteins and/or administered pharmacological agents, diluting endogenous neurochemical concentrations within the brain, and reducing non-synaptic coupling.

Abstract: Out-of-order packet processing in a wireless communications system (WCS) is provided. A reordering queue is established for each data session to temporally hold an incoming data packet(s) until an out-of-order data packet(s) is received or discarded. A reordering timer is initiated to define a lifespan of the earliest detected missed data packet in the data session. If the earliest detected missed data packet is received before the reordering timer expires, the received data packet will be forwarded to a core network together with any subsequent in-order data packet(s) in the reordering queue. Otherwise, the missed data packet is discarded, the subsequent in-order data packet(s) in the reordering queue is forwarded to the core network, and the reordering timer may be redefined for a next missed data packet in the data session. Hence, it is possible to process out-of-order data packets for multiple data sessions with reduced processing complexity and latency.

Abstract: Voltage-controlled spin field effect transistors (“spin transistors”) and methods for their use in switching applications are provided. In the spin transistors, spin current is transported from a spin injection contact to a spin detection contact through a multiferroic antiferromagnetic channel via magnon propagation. The spin current transport is modulated by the application of a gate voltage that increases the number of domain boundaries the multiferroic antiferromagnetic material.
Abstract: A composition and method for immunizing a mammal infected with Mycobacterium are disclosed. The genes gcpE, pstA, kdpC, papA2, impA, umaA1, fabG2_2, aceAB, mbtH2, lpqP, map0834c, cspB, lipN, or map1634 of M. paratuberculosis and their products that they encode are vaccine targets for Johne's and Crohn's disease. Eighteen M. paratuberculosis-specific genomic islands (MAPs) were identified. Three inverted large genomic fragments in M. paratuberculosis (INV) were also identified. These genomic identifiers represent novel virulence determinants that can be used as targets for vaccines and for developments of drugs against Johne's disease. The method can be used to deliver an immunizing compounds to a mammal, to provide an immune response against Johne's or Crohn's disease in the mammal.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus and systems for map reconstruction based on wireless tracking are described. In one example, a described system comprises: a sensor configured to collect sensing data in a venue and obtain a plurality of trajectories, and a processor. Each trajectory is a time series of spatial coordinates (TSSC) representing a path traversed by a respective object in the venue. Each TSSC is accompanied by at least one respective time series of sensing data (TSSD) collected while the respective object traverses the path in the venue. The processor is configured for: segmenting each TSSC and its accompanying at least one TSSD into segments, bundling the plurality of trajectories based on similarity measures between pairs of the segments, fusing the bundled trajectories to generate fused trajectories, computing a shape of the fused trajectories, and generating a map of the venue based on the computed shape.

Abstract: The current disclosure provides systems and methods of directly measuring angular velocity and angular acceleration of space objects and using the measured angular velocity and angular acceleration as inputs into new and unique algorithms for initial orbit determination. Sensors measuring locations and times of light events may be used to generate a virtual rate track image for identification of space objects. Right ascension and declination of the space object events versus time may be fit to polynomials or splines to determine associated angle, angular rate, and angular acceleration of the space objects. New and unique initial orbit algorithms may then be applied to estimate orbital elements of the space objects.
