  • Patent number: 11865102
Abstract: Cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabinoid designated chemically as 2-[(IR,6R)-3-Methyl-6-(1-methylethenyl)-2-cyclohexen-1-yl]-5-pentyl-1,3-benzenediol. Its empirical formula is C21H30O2 and its molecular weight is 314.46. CBD is a cannabinoid that naturally occurs in the Cannabis sativa L. plant. CBD is a white to pale yellow crystalline solid which is insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvents. The present invention encompasses the surprising recognition that certain CBD preparations which are prepared from a botanical origin are more effective in treating diseases or disorders than preparations of CBD which are synthetic or purified to the extent no other impurities in the form of other cannabinoids are present. Prior CBD compositions have been prepared such that no psychoactive components, e.g., tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), remain in the final CBD preparation. Surprisingly, the absence of such minor impurities reduces the efficacy of CBD treatment.

  • Patent number: 11866353
Abstract: The present disclosure provides for methods and systems for separating ultrafine particulate pollutants from aqueous suspensions. The present disclosure provide for methods and systems that can reduce the amount of ultrafine particulate pollutants from aqueous solutions, for example storm water runoff, which are not readily or easily removed using current state of the art techniques. In general, methods of the present disclosure provide for removing a portion of target ultrafine particulate pollutants using magnetic nanoparticles, which form aggregates with the ultrafine particulate pollutants. After a time period a magnetic field is applied and the aggregate can be separated from the aqueous suspension. Subsequently, the aggregates can be broken down and the magnetic nanoparticles recycled or reused while the ultrafine particulate contaminants are further processed, recycled, or disposed of.

  • Patent number: 11866804
Abstract: A process for the isolation and purification of substantially pure chemicals, including silica gel, sodium silicate, aluminum silicate, iron oxide, and rare earth elements (or rare earth metals, REEs), from massive industrial waste coal ash including a plurality of caustic extractions of coal ash at an elevated temperature, followed by an acidic treatment to dissolve aluminum silicate and REEs. Dissolved aluminum silicate is precipitated out by pH adjustment as a solid product while REEs remain in the solution. REEs are captured and enriched using an ion exchange column. Alternatively, the solution containing aluminum silicate and REEs is heated to produce silica gel, which is separated from the enriched REEs solution. REEs are then isolated and purified from the enriched solution to afford substantially pure individual REE by a ligand-assisted chromatography.
