Abstract: The present invention provides a process for producing high purity hydromagnesite from a source of magnesium chloride. The process involves preparation of a magnesium chloride brine of a specific concentration, which is ammoniated at a specific temperature range, followed by carbonation, while maintaining the reaction at a specific temperature range to form a hydromagnesite precipitate. The product can be calcined to generate high purity magnesium oxide compounds.

Abstract: A tourniquet having a first elongated member with a buckle on one end, and a second elongated member attached at both ends to the end of the first elongated member but leaving an intermediate portion of the second elongated member otherwise slidable with respect to the first elongated member. A windlass is used to twist the intermediate portion to apply tension to the first longitudinal member. Twisting the windlass produces a lineal component to the force and a torsional component. The buckle includes a first lateral side, a second lateral side and an intermediate bar between and spaced apart from them. The buckle also includes an anti-torsional plate that resists the torsional force. The buckle also has “teeth” the resist movement of the first longitudinal member from the buckle.

Abstract: Disclosed is a soft-close device for a compact hinge comprising a housing removably fitted to the compact hinge and a plunger slidingly engaged with the housing. The housing includes a cavity sized and shaped to receive the plunger. The plunger includes a collar that when the plunger is rotated will engage a slot in the housing to deactivate the soft close functionality of the device. In an alternate embodiment, a tab slides around the exterior of the collar to engage the slot. In another alternate embodiment, the plunger includes a detent that engages a catch formed in the housing. The catch extends from a flexible arm of the housing that can be elastically deformed to deactivate and reactivate the soft-close functionality.

Abstract: Apparatuses and computer-implemented methods are presented for discovering career and job opportunities that are categorized within one or more taxonomies having hierarchical categories. A taxonomy selection mechanism may be provided to enable user selection of one of multiple taxonomies for navigation. A taxonomic node network is rendered on a first portion of a user computing device display screen. The taxonomic node network includes elements corresponding to categories within the selected taxonomy, with the elements being animated for dynamic redistribution around a selected one of the network elements. Another portion of the user computing device display screen is automatically updated to display indicia of job opportunities categorized within a taxonomy category associated with the selected network element.

Abstract: A tracking system for durable assets such as personal weapons is provided. The tracking system includes a durable asset tag including an RFID transponder physically mounted within an externally exposed cavity of the durable asset, and an identification card with a machine-readable third unique identifier associated with a person. Different embodiments are disclosed for the durable asset tag, with one embodiment including a helical antenna connected to the RFID transponder for facilitating communication with an RFID reader. The system also includes first and second databases, each storing information associated with the durable asset, and an AIM interface terminal for receiving the first unique identifier from the durable asset tag and the third unique identifier from the identification card, and which communicates with the databases for checking-in or checking-out the durable asset to the person having the identification card.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for monitoring a digital media receiver (including receivers for television or other type of digital media) to determine whether it is necessary for a receiver to re-connect in order to continue receiving a predetermined channel or stream. This invention is useful in digital media monitoring systems and in situations with many receivers connected to the same signal source and predetermined channels defined to be output by each receiver. One embodiment of the invention uses an auditing receiver that constantly scans the upstream channel-map, guide data, service information or system information to determine if the connection parameters required for receiving each predetermined stream have changed. Some examples of connection parameters include packet identifiers (PIDs), radio frequency (RF) channel and uniform resource locator (URL), depending on the type of broadcast and stream.

Abstract: In embodiments of the present invention, a method is described for reducing bias by data fusion of a household panel data and a loyalty card data. In embodiments, a method is provided for receiving a consumer panel dataset in a data fusion facility, receiving a consumer point-of-sale dataset in a data fusion facility, receiving a dimension dataset in a data fusion facility, fusing the datasets received in the data fusion facility into a new panel dataset based at least in part on an encryption key, estimating a consumer behavior using a first model based on the consumer panel dataset, estimating a consumer behavior using a second model based only on those consumers present in both the consumer panel dataset and the consumer point-of-sale dataset, and refining the first model based at least on the results of the second model.

Abstract: A handcuff is provided, including a strand comprising ratchet teeth, a universal handcuff key locking mechanism configured to receive a universal handcuff key to unlock the handcuff, a first engageable selection mechanism located on a first side of the handcuff, and a second engageable selection mechanism positioned on a second side of the handcuff opposite the first side. Unlocking the handcuff requires actuating the first engageable selection mechanism concurrently with actuating the second engageable selection mechanism while simultaneously employing the universal handcuff key, thereby releasing the ratchet teeth of the handcuff strand.

Abstract: A full extension ball bearing drawer slide assembly comprised of a cabinet rail attached to a cabinet piece, an intermediate rail slidingly engaged with the cabinet rail via bearing runners, a drawer rail slidingly engaged with the intermediate rail via a bearing cage, and a cage hold forward device for advantageously positioning the bearing cage for ease of re-insertion of the drawer rail within the intermediated rail. The cage hold forward device is attached to the intermediate rail and comprises a protrusion for engagement with a flexible trigger mounted on the drawer rail and a flexible clip for releasable engagement with the bearing cage.

Abstract: Disclosed is a pullout apparatus having side access and designed for simple, adjustable, and accurate installation within a pre-existing cabinet space. The apparatus, slidably mounted within the cabinet space, comprises a top slide assembly mounted to a cabinet carcass and a drawer box. The drawer box is automatically centered on a base slide box. The base slide box is comprised of a slotted template slidingly engaged with a frame, where the frame is mounted to the cabinet carcass. Slide rail assemblies connect the slotted template to the frame. A pin block on the underside of a fixed shelf of the drawer box automatically centers the drawer box on the slotted template. A face plate adjustment mechanism provides for three dimensional alignment of the face plate with surrounding cabinets. An alternate embodiment comprises a mounting bracket providing three dimensional adjustability of the upper drawer slide.

Abstract: A fluid seal system for a hydrocarbon recovery capsule includes a plurality of interconnected fluid seals each comprising an elongated sealing member clamped to a bulkhead plate and biasing a geomembrane to the bulkhead plate. A compression plate is positioned between each elongated sealing member and the bulkhead plate, thereby clamping the geomembrane to the bulkhead plate. An enclosed channel of each elongated sealing member receives a slurry. Clay amended soil surrounds and compresses the plurality of interconnected seals to provide a fluid seal that is capable of withstanding high temperatures while sealing off fluid and gas from the environment. A method of sealing a hydrocarbon recovery capsule is disclosed and described.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method to separate solid particle components from a fluid. It can be used in close association with a hydrocarbon producing well and uses a novel combination of mechanical filtration, solids decantation, and real and apparent forces. Disclosed is a spherical vessel with a tangential inlet to introduce the fluid and a fluid exhaust and filter arranged on the center line of the interior of the vessel. A combination of pressurized fluid and solid particles enter at the tangential inlet and move primarily in a circular path around the interior of the vessel. The circular path results in the larger mass particles settling at the vessels lower region. Less massive particles may be entrained in the exiting fluid flow toward a filter element where they are removed from the exiting fluid. The vessel has an opening to remove the trapped separated particles.

Abstract: An apparatus enabling maintaining a small electronic device is provided. The apparatus includes a base and a loop attached to the base. The loop has a length, and the loop is joined to the base at a first position at approximately 6.25 percent of the length from a first end and further joined to the base at a second position approximately 18.75 percent of the length from the first end. The loop includes an unbound section of approximately 68.75 percent of the length and the loop is further joined to the base at a third position proximate the first end.

Abstract: Systems for heating a body of crushed hydrocarbonaceous material to produce hydrocarbons therefrom can involve heating multiple zones of the body of material sequentially. An exemplary system can include a body of crushed hydrocarbonaceous material having a lower zone and an upper zone. A lower heating conduit can be embedded in the lower zone, while an upper heating conduit is embedded in the upper zone. A collection conduit is embedded in the upper zone at a location above the upper heating conduit. A lower heating valve is also operatively associated with the lower heating conduit and is capable of switchably flowing a heat transfer fluid through the lower heating conduit. An upper heating valve is operatively associated with the upper heating conduit and capable of switchably flowing the heat transfer fluid through the upper heating conduit.

The housing includes a central axis, an internal cavity, and a radially outermost surface. In addition, the load measurement sub includes a first load measurement assembly at least partially disposed within a first port extending from the radially outermost surface to the internal cavity. The first load measurement assembly includes a first button extending radially from the first port and the radially outermost surface of the housing. The first load measurement assembly also includes a first load cell. Further, the load measurement sub includes a first biasing member disposed between the first button and the first load cell. The first biasing member is configured to bias the first button away from the first load cell.

Abstract: A handcuff design is provided, including a handcuff strand having ratchet teeth with openings formed therein, a ratchet button comprising teeth configured to interface with the openings formed in the handcuff strand, a universal handcuff key receptacle configured to receive a universal handcuff key, a pawl arrangement including a rotatable pawl element configured to be moved in a direction away from the handcuff strand by the universal handcuff key, the pawl arrangement including a spring mechanism, and a lock bar configured to impede movement of the pawl arrangement unless moved to an unlocked position.

Abstract: An undermount drawer slide mounting clip releasably attaches a drawer to a drawer rail assembly mounted in a cabinet carcass. The apparatus is capable of effecting positional adjustments of the drawer in three directions without removing the drawer from the cabinet carcass. The apparatus is comprised of a body slidingly engaged with a bonnet. A trigger pivotally connected between the body and the bonnet. A spring loaded catch slidable within the bonnet and acted on by the trigger to releasably attach the apparatus to a drawer rail assembly. A threaded spindle rotates within the base and adjusts the horizontal position of the drawer. A ramp adjustably connected to the base adjusts the vertical position of the drawer. A plunger extends from a housing connected to the body to adjacent the drawer rail assembly and adjusts the depth of the drawer.

Abstract: A snap-in mounting bracket with a generally “U” shaped cross-section. A set of mounting holes are spaced along the web of the bracket and correspond to existing holes in prefabricated cabinets or closets over a range of industry standard sizes. A guide flange extends from the web proximate the middle of a first edge. End flanges curve around the ends of the first edge. A pair of spring flanges extend from the web on a second edge opposite the middle guide flange. A universal slide assembly is removably secured to the mounting bracket between the flanges. The end flanges and the spring tension of the spring flanges hold the slide assembly in place. Different closet organizer components such as tie racks, pant racks, and belt racks can be affixed to the slide assembly for slidable deployment along the vertical partition out of the closet.
