Abstract: An injector mounting arrangement includes a tolerance ring assembly that provides damping or absorption capabilities in addition to alignment and centering functionality. The tolerance ring assembly is designed to absorb axial excitation energy from the injector by converting it into strain energy through the radial deformation of the tolerance ring. The strain energy is absorbed in the form of bending stress within the tolerance ring more effectively than by simply absorbing the axial forces in compression alone. As a result, vibration and noise is reduced and/or isolated.

  • Patent number: 7861519
Abstract: A procedure to operate an exhaust gas treatment device, which contains a catalytically active surface for the exothermic conversion of a reagent substance, and a device to implement the procedure are proposed. Provision is made to measure a first measurement for the reaction temperature of the reagent substance in the area of the catalytically active surface as well as to calculate a second measurement for the reaction temperature using a model of the catalytically supported reaction. A measurement for the unconverted reagent substance in the area of the catalytically active surface is ascertained from a comparison of the two measurements. The procedural approach according to the invention makes possible on the one hand a protection of the exhaust gas duct components with regard to an excessive temperature and on the other hand an energy efficient heating of the exhaust gas duct components.

  • Patent number: 7864078
Abstract: A method and a device for decoding a signal transmitted via at least one transmission line of a data transmission system, in a user of the data transmission system receiving the signal. Instead of at discrete instants, as currently done, sampling at a specific sampling instant does not take place. To this end, a potential-edge position (PEP) for an imminent edge is estimated first. Then, given n-fold oversampling, maximally n sampling values before the PEP and maximally n sampling values after the PEP are determined and compared with previously recorded and stored sampling values. The stored sampling values are preferably stored in an edge-acceptance vector (EAV) and correspond to an edge change of the signal to be decoded at a particular point in time. Preferably not all detected 2n sampling values are compared to the content of the EAVs, but the comparison is limited to a portion, combined to a sensitivity range, of the 2n sampling values of each EAV.

Abstract: The object of the invention is a wiper blade (10) with a wiper strip (12), in the lateral longitudinal grooves (20) of which spring rails (24) are inserted as springy supporting elements. The ends of the spring rails (24) are connected with one another by a bridge (32, 54, 62, 76) in that side parts (36, 66, 80) of the bridge (32, 54, 62, 76) are supported at the upper side of the spring rail (24) and engage recesses (28, 30) of the spring rails (24), whereas a middle part (34, 64, 78) of the bridge (32, 54, 62, 76) bridges a back strip (22) of the wiper strip (12), which forms the upper boundary of the longitudinal grooves (20). It is proposed that the spring rails (24), at their front faces, have short slots (28), which extend in the longitudinal direction of the spring rails (24) and which are engaged by the I-shaped angle pieces (38, 56) of the bridge (52, 54). Lower legs (40, 58) of the angle pieces (38, 56) are directed towards the middle of the spring rails (24), gripping these from below.

  • Publication number: 20100332094
Abstract: A cooperative traction control system that integrates throttle control and torque distribution. The system also uses dual slip controllers and methods that involve controlling the distribution of torque between wheels in the front and rear axles of a vehicle and a relatively small or no adjustment of the engine throttle (or, more generally, engine torque output) to reduce wheel slip. The control is cooperative in the sense that two controllers—a front axle torque controller and a rear axle torque controller—work together (or are controlled together) to reduce wheel slip and thereby achieve improved straight-line movement of a vehicle from a standstill.

Abstract: The invention provides a system and method for determining characteristics of a trailer being towed by a vehicle that includes an electronic stability control (“ESC”) system. The trailer is coupled to the vehicle using a trailer hitch. The hitch is configured to fasten the trailer to the vehicle using at least one intelligent bolt or fastener. The intelligent fastener has structural characteristics similar to those of traditional bolts for fastening a trailer to a vehicle (e.g., shear strength, diameter, etc.), but the intelligent fastener is configured to sense forces at a junction between the trailer and the vehicle. The ESC system receives force readings from the intelligent fastener sensors and uses them in conjunction with signals from a plurality of other sensors connected to the ESC system to determine one or more characteristics of the trailer. The characteristics of the trailer include a trailer weight, a trailer sway, and a trailer center of gravity.
