Abstract: A method is accordingly provided for operating an ultrasonic sensor, a plurality of measuring cycles being successively carried out. In each measuring cycle—an electroacoustic transducer of the ultrasonic sensor is excited using an excitation pulse, causing it to mechanically oscillate, as a result of which a measuring signal is transmitted by the transducer, an echo signal is received by the transducer, and a piece of object information is ascertained from the echo signal. The frequency curve of the excitation pulse is differentiated into two measuring cycles successively carried out at least at the end of the frequency curve. The ascertained pieces of object information from at least two measuring cycles are compared with one another and an interference is identified as a function of the result of the comparison.
Abstract: A method for assessing a control loop. In the method, the control loop is assigned one degree of fulfillment each with respect to at least three quality criteria. The surface area of a polygon having a geometry defined by the degrees of fulfillment is determined. An overall control quality of the control loop is evaluated on the basis of the surface area.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of determining an explainability mask for classification of an input image by a trained neural network. The trained neural network is configured to determine the classification and classification score of the input image by determining a latent representation of the input image at an internal layer of the trained neural network. The method includes accessing the trained neural network, obtaining the input image and the latent representation thereof and initializing a mask for indicating modifications to the latent representation. The mask is updated by iteratively adjusting values of the mask to optimize an objective function, comprising i) a modification component indicating a degree of modifications indicated by the mask, and ii) a classification score component, determined by applying the indicated modifications to the latent representation and determining the classification score thereof. The mask is scaled to a spatial resolution of the input image and output.
Abstract: A device for detecting a soiling of a transparent cover of at least one transmitting window and/or one receiving window of an optical sensor. The device includes at least one hologram structure, an image sensor, and a processing unit. The at least one hologram structure is designed to at least partially deflect light beams incident through the transparent cover, or light beams reflected by an inner side of the transparent cover, in the direction of the image sensor. The image sensor is designed to detect at least one image signal as a function of the deflected light beams, and the processing unit is designed to detect a soiling of the transparent cover as a function of the at least one detected image signal. An optical sensor including the device, and a method for detecting a soiling of the transparent cover, are also described.

Abstract: A portable work light is disclosed having a light fixture with one or more rotational degrees of freedom that are automatically actuated such that a light thereof can maintain optimal lighting for a target person in a jobsite environment. Particularly, the portable work light is advantageously configured to track a target person's location within the jobsite environment and automatically reorient the light fixture as needed to maintain optimal illumination of the jobsite for the target person.
