Patent number: 4672808Abstract: An apparatus for the burning of solid particles, especially soot particles, separated from the exhaust gas from internal combustion engines has a rotationally symmetrical combustion chamber which coaxially adjoins an ignition burner connected with it by a flame transfer orifice. Fuel and air are metered to the ignition burner through an additional-air line and a fuel line and, as a prepared mixture, they are ignited in the ignition burner and enter the combustion chamber through a flame transfer orifice. In the combustion chamber an exhaust gas partial stream enriched with the solid particles is introduced, and, after the solid particles have been consumed together with the additional air put into the combustion chamber, the exhaust gas is then discharged again as cleaned exhaust together with the remaining combustion products through an outlet tube.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1986Date of Patent: June 16, 1987Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Rolf Leonhard, Hubert Dettling

Patent number: 4671244Abstract: The invention is directed to a mixture metering arrangement for an internal combustion engine and includes an exhaust-gas sensor which is exposed to the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine. The exhaust-gas sensor indicates the air ratio lambda and preferably has a two-level characteristic. The sensor output signals are acted upon by a follow-on controller which is preferably a PI-controller. The controller output quantity acts upon the mixture composition in a corrective fashion. In this arrangement, the control oscillation of the controller output quantity is adjusted to a predetermined amplitude by means of a superposed control. In particular, the integral component of the control oscillation is influenced in a manner causing it to have the same amplitude as the proportional component while in the steady operating condition. Thus, it is possible to maintain the maximum control frequency in any operating range of the internal combustion engine so that the controller always operates at its optimum.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1985Date of Patent: June 9, 1987Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Albrecht Clement, Dieter Mayer, Ernst Wild

Patent number: 4671373Abstract: A locking-type differential (5; I, II) is automatically engaged to locked position upon sensing of certain vehicle operating conditions, and unlocked upon sensing other vehicle operating conditions. If the steering wheel is deflected, or transverse acceleration is sensed, the differential is inhibited from locking; likewise, if the brakes are applied, or the engine is operating under idle condition, the locking-type differential is either unlocked or prevented from locking. On the other hand, if a kick-down signal from the accelerator is sensed, or if the difference in speed of driven and rolling wheels exceeds a predetermined amount, thus indicating slippage of the driven wheel, or if a brake applied to the driven wheel is then engaged, and the speed between the wheels coupled to the differential has become essentially uniform (FIG. 2, terminal 17), the differential is controlled to lock.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1984Date of Patent: June 9, 1987Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventor: Alfred Sigl

Patent number: 4669430Abstract: Electrical energy being supplied to an electrical heater, typically a glow plug within an internal combustion engine (ICE), is easily and simply controlled by controlling the duty cycle or ON/OFF duration of a switch (10) serially connected between the glow plug (11) and a supply voltage source, for example a vehicular battery (U.sub.Batt). An operational amplifier (15) controls the duty cycle of the switch (10) by comparing a periodically varying voltage (37a) derived from a stabilized frequency or pulse generator (30) with battery voltage (U.sub.Batt) and, at the cross-over points, respectively changing the switching condition of the switch. Upon drop in battery voltage, the switch will be longer in an ON position than at a higher battery voltage, so that the average voltage, over a plurality of cycles, across the glow plug (11), will have a value (U.sub.KEM) which will result in a predetermined temperature thereof.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1985Date of Patent: June 2, 1987Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Martin Reinold, Peter Schmidt

Patent number: 4669672Abstract: A food processor wherein a shaft which extends into the interior of a bowl is driven by an electric motor employs a whipping tool having a hub which receives torque from the shaft, either directly or through the medium of an adapter, and a disc-shaped portion. The underside of the disc-shaped portion is immediately adjacent to the upper side of the bottom wall of the bowl and has ribs separating radially extending channels each having an inlet in the region of the hub and one or more outlets at the periphery of the tool. When the tool rotates, the inlets draw air or receive air from a system of passages, and the channels discharge the thus admitted air into the material (such as cream, egg whites or mayonnaise) which gathers at the periphery of the tool so that the material is thoroughly mixed and is also whipped by admission of finely atomized air. The tool can process large or very small quantities of foodstuffs without changing its RPM.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1984Date of Patent: June 2, 1987Assignee: Robert Krups Stiftung & Co.
