Abstract: There are many inventions described and illustrated herein. In one aspect, present invention is directed to a thin film encapsulated MEMS, and technique of fabricating or manufacturing a thin film encapsulated MEMS including an integrated getter area and/or an increased chamber volume, which causes little to no increase in overall dimension(s) from the perspective of the mechanical structure and chamber. The integrated getter area is disposed within the chamber and is capable of (i) “capturing” impurities, atoms and/or molecules that are out-gassed from surrounding materials and/or (ii) reducing and/or minimizing the adverse impact of such impurities, atoms and/or molecules (for example, reducing the probability of adding mass to a resonator which would thereby change the resonator's frequency).
Abstract: A method and a system for controlling a wireless sensor network from a user interface coupled to the Internet are provided. A user accesses an Internet-based portal from the user interface and establishes a secure broadband Internet connection between a remote control module coupled to the wireless sensor network and the portal. The connection is established by manually triggering a connection between the remote control module and the portal from the remote control module.
Abstract: A micromechanical component having a substrate and having a thin-layer, as well as having a cavity which is bounded by the substrate and the thin-layer, at least one gas having an internal pressure being enclosed in the cavity. The gas phase has a non-atmospheric composition. A method for producing a micromechanical component having a substrate and having a thin-layer encapsulation, as well as having a cavity which is bounded by the substrate and the thin-layer encapsulation. The method has the steps of positioning a polymer in a cavity, closing the cavity and generating a gas phase of non-atmospheric composition in the cavity by decomposing at least a part of the polymer. An internal pressure is generated, which may be higher than the process pressure when the cavity is closed.
Abstract: A device for measuring the pressure of a gas mixture composed of gas components has an amperometric sensor that works on the limiting current principle, having two electrodes connected to a direct voltage that are situated on a solid electrolyte, of which one electrode is covered by a diffusion barrier, and a measuring element for measuring the limiting current flowing via electrodes as a measure for the gas pressure. For the purpose of error-free measurement of the gas pressure in a gas mixture in which the concentration of the gas components fluctuates with time, means are provided which fix the mole fraction of a gas component, drawn upon for pressure measurement, that is present upstream of the diffusion barrier at a constant 100%, at least during the pressure measuring phase.

Abstract: Embodiments of a name recognition process for use in dialog systems are described. In one embodiment, the name recognition process assigns weighting values to names used in a dialog based on the usage of these names. This process takes advantage of the general tendency of people to speak names, either full or partial, only after they have heard or read these names. Name input is taken in several different forms, including a static background database that contains all possible names, a background database that contains commonly used names (such as common trademarks or references), a database that contains names from a user model, and a dynamic database that constantly takes the names just mentioned. The names are then appended with proper weighting values. A high weight is given to names that have been mentioned recently, a lower weight is given to common names, and a lowest weight is given to names for the ones that have never been used or mentioned.

Abstract: A method and device for influencing the longitudinal velocity of a motor vehicle, in which a setpoint minimum distance and/or a setpoint maximum velocity is presettable by the driver, the driver being able to influence the vehicle velocity via the accelerator pedal and/or brake pedal, and in which the distance from a vehicle traveling ahead is measured by a distance-measuring sensor and, if the setpoint minimum distance is undershot and/or the setpoint maximum velocity is exceeded by the vehicle velocity, the vehicle velocity is limited so that the setpoint minimum distance is not undershot and/or the setpoint maximum velocity is not exceeded. This function is provided, in particular, in connection with an adaptive distance and cruise control system, the driver being able to activate either the adaptive distance and cruise control system or the limiting function.

Transverse acceleration and vertical acceleration of a vehicle are detected, and the roll angle of the vehicle is estimated on the basis of the detected lateral acceleration and the detected vertical acceleration, additional driving dynamics quantities, including a vehicle speed, a yaw angle and a float angle being determined, and centripetal acceleration being calculated from these driving dynamics quantities, formula, to improve the estimate of the roll angle.
Abstract: A method for aligning an elongated component that is to be fitted, with at least two component segments, into two coaxial installation points (A/B; C) spaced apart from one another. The accumulator is configured to exchange working fluid with the reservoir.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for diagnosing the dynamics of an exhaust gas sensor embodied as a lambda probe, which is disposed in an exhaust gas duct of an internal combustion engine in the direction of flow of the exhaust gas upstream or downstream of a catalytic converter and with which the air/fuel ratio of the gas mixture supplied to the internal combustion engine is controlled via a control circuit. During the diagnosis, provision is made in the method according to the invention for at least one actuator intervention to be specified by means of a control algorithm of a diagnostic controller specifically in the direction of an asymmetric behavior, which is achieved by an extension of one of the two ramps, until the actuator intervention is compensated by a possible asymmetric dynamic error of the exhaust gas sensor, a reaction to said actuator intervention being used as the criterion for assessing an asymmetric dynamic error of said exhaust gas sensor.
