  • Patent number: 4642602
Abstract: An electric potentiometer is proposed, which serves to convert a displacement movement into an electrical signal. The electric potentiometer has a wiper lever with brush wipers which upon a rotational movement about a pivot shaft stroke electrically conductive layers applied to a carrier plate. An electrically nonconductive layer is applied on the resistor layer such that in the region of the electrically conductive layer that is strokable by the wiper upon its deflection, a pickup zone which is narrower than the wiper and is defined on both sides by the electrically nonconductive layer remains uncovered by the electrically nonconductive layer.

  • Patent number: 4641041
Abstract: The invention is directed to a circuit arrangement for the recording of false release signals for a restraint system such as an air bag system or a seat belt tensioning system in a vehicle. In this circuit arrangement, a release circuit including a first deceleration sensor and an evaluation circuit generates a release signal in the event of a deceleration caused by an accident. This release signal, however, becomes effective only if, at the same time, a second release circuit including a second deceleration sensor 17 responds, thereby triggering the restraint system. A monitoring circuit for monitoring the occurrence of a release signal without a concurrent response of the second release circuit will activate a warning device and inform the operator of the vehicle of the malfunction.

  • Patent number: 4641180
Abstract: A single television signal delay chain is interconnected with linear combination matrices for frame comb filtering and line comb filtering. Related circuits provide correction signals for controllably eliminating the frame or the line comb filtering. Detectors are provided for movement and for edges in the picture content and these detectors supply signals to a picture blending circuit for selecting the most appropriate kind of comb filtering for the current picture content. The circuits operate on a digital basis with a sampling frequency which is an integral multiple of the line scanning frequency.

  • Patent number: 4640739
Abstract: Very fine solder-coated conduction paths are made on ceramic, glass or enamel substrates by the combination of a first step in thick-film technology followed by the photo-masking and etching steps typical of thin-film technology, after which galvanic reinforcement of the initial calcined copper paste layer is performed in the locations where the initial layer is exposed by the developed mask. A lead-tin solder layer is then galvanically deposited, which is thicker than the mask, after which the mask is removed and the newly exposed portions of the initial copper layer are etched away. A reflow treatment of the solder layer pattern consolidates the solder layer by melting on top of the boundaries of the unetched initial copper layer. It is possible to obtain conduction path spacings down to 50 .mu.m with conduction paths coated with solder that have excellent adhesion to ceramic, glass or enamel substrates.

  • Patent number: 4638925
Abstract: An apparatus is proposed for volumetric metering and filling of liquids which includes a vertically extending dispensing chamber provided with a lower inflow and outflow opening and an upper vent opening. A float having an indicator ring is freely reciprocable in the dispensing chamber and scanning elements for controlling the inflow or outflow of liquid are disposed outside the dispensing chamber. Further control elements control a retarded inflow or outflow of the liquid via a throttle device, so that the upper and lower height, the criterion for accurate metering out of quantities of liquid, of the surface of the liquid in the dispensing chamber can be regulated.

  • Patent number: 4639822
Abstract: An arrangement for rapid switching of an electromagnetic load includes a series arrangement of a switching device with the electromagnetic load, a relief diode arranged in parallel with the electromagnetic load, and a capacitor arranged in parallel to the switching means. Another switching device is arranged parallel to the capacitor and controls the operation of the latter, while an additional switching device is arranged in series with the relief diode and controls the operation of such relief diode. An operating arrangement for controlling the various switching devices issues various control signals at least some of which depend on electric signals derived from the switching arrangement. During the operation of the switching arrangement, the operating arrangement selectively makes the various switching devices conductive and non-conductive in a predetermined sequence to enhance the speed of switching of the electromagnetic load between its two end states.

  • Patent number: 4637247
Abstract: To reliably distinguish between knocking signals derived from an internal combustion engine knock sensor from all the other signals likewise derived from the knock sensor, which includes background noise signals, statistically distributed disturbance signals and the like, a correlation signal is generated, and the received signal is correlated with the correlation signal, which is cyclically varying at an average frequency which is of the frequency of the expected knocking signal, or a whole number multiple thereof. An output recognition is provided upon correlation between the correlation signal and the signal from the knocking sensor. The system can be implemented by a signal generator (6, 61, 62; 63) which provides the correlation signal, correlation being effected by an AND-gate (7, 71, 72; 73), or by software in a microprocessor in which an incoming knocking signal is interrogated in cadence with cyclical variation at the frequency which is the expected knocking frequency of the engine.

The D/A converter will provide an output of undulating or wavy form, which undulations or waves are averaged or integrated by a low-pass filter (5) or low-pass transmission characteristics of a controller (6) or the overall control loop (4-6-7-8-9-10-11-4) to which the analog signal is applied as a command signal.

  • Patent number: 4635605
Abstract: A fuel injection pump of the distributor type is proposed, in which the injection quantity is controlled by controlling the first outlet cross section D of a first relief line and the stroke-offset outlet C of a second relief line for the pump work chamber of the fuel injection pump by means of a control edge that is variable in accordance with load and/or rpm. To attain nonsupply of fuel within the intended supply stroke of the pump piston during idling and at low partial load, communication between the first and second relief lines is provided. The communication exists only for the duration of a predetermined stroke portion (h.sub.e) and is additionally controlled in accordance with load and/or rpm by controlling the following outlet of the second relief line, so that from a predetermined upper load range to full-load operation, the entire fuel quantity pumped by the pump piston over the effective supply stroke does in fact become injected.
