    Abstract: A light-directing apparatus for off-axial preferential-side distribution of light from a light emitter having an emitter axis, including a lens member positioned over the light emitter and a shield member. The lens member has a proximal end substantially transverse the emitter axis and an outer surface which may be configured for refracting light from the emitter. The shield member may be snugly received in a shield-receiving void of an inner surface of the lens member. Alternatively, the shield member is embedded by the lens member having been molded thereabout. Another aspect of this invention is a lighting fixture utilizing such light-directing apparatus.

    Abstract: An LED apparatus of the type including (a) a mounting board having an LED-supporting surface with an LED device thereon and (b) a lens member over the LED device establishing a light path therebetween. The inventive LED apparatus includes a lens-aligning member having front and back surfaces and defining an aperture receiving the LED device therethrough such that the LED device protrudes beyond the front surface. The lens member includes a lens portion and a flange thereabout, the flange being attached to the front surface of the lens-aligning member such that the lens portion substantially surrounds the protruding LED device. The lens-aligning member has a first mating feature which is positioned and arranged for mating engagement with a second mating feature of the mounting board, thereby accurately aligning the lens member over the LED device by accurately aligning the lens-alignment member with the mounting board.

    Abstract: A lighting fixture including a housing having a chamber defined by a surrounding wall, at least one power-supply unit within the chamber, and a slidable interlock securing the power-supply unit to the surrounding wall. The interlock includes a linear groove on one of the power-supply unit and the wall, and a mating projection on the other of the power-supply unit and the wall and slidably receivable into the groove. The power-supply unit is readily securable within the chamber by slidable engagement with the surrounding wall. It is preferred that the power-supply unit be secured closely against the fixture-exterior wall-portion, thus facilitating heat transfer from the power-supply unit to outside the fixture.

The walls further define a second opening for communication with the light fixture.
