    Abstract: A lighting fixture includes a base having a hole in a top surface thereof, at least one retaining member disposed on the top surface of the base proximate the hole, a lamp housing having a top portion and a dome-shaped bottom portion, the bottom portion including a perimeter portion having an essentially planar annular end surface sized to surround the hole, at least one boss extending from the perimeter portion of the lamp housing, and a handle attached to the top portion of the lamp housing, where the retaining member is structured for receiving the boss with the annular end surface of the lamp housing abutting the top surface of the base and surrounding the hole, so that rotation of the handle effects twist-locking attachment or detachment of the lamp housing respectively to or from the base by rotating the boss into or out of engagement with the retaining member.

    Abstract: The inventive ceiling-mounted light-fixture support assembly includes a mounting bracket having upper and lower surfaces, a length, and a width between two width sides. The assembly also includes a fixture attachment member having a top with portions defining a top opening which has a width narrower than the width of the mounting bracket. The fixture attachment member further has a recessed portion defining a slideway which (a) is in lateral communication with the top opening, (b) has a width wider than the width of the mounting bracket, and (c) is spaced sufficiently lower than the opening-defining portions of the top to receive the two width sides of the mounting bracket. In use, the fixture attachment member can be positioned so that the mounting bracket is at least partially within the slideway and then repositioned so that the mounting bracket is within the top opening for light-fixture support.

    Abstract: A lighting fixture including a housing having a chamber defined by a surrounding wall, at least one power-supply unit within the chamber, and a slidable interlock securing the power-supply unit to the surrounding wall. The interlock includes a linear groove on one of the power-supply unit and the wall, and a mating projection on the other of the power-supply unit and the wall and slidably receivable into the groove. The power-supply unit is readily securable within the chamber by slidable engagement with the surrounding wall. It is preferred that the power-supply unit be secured closely against the fixture-exterior wall-portion, thus facilitating heat transfer from the power-supply unit to outside the fixture.

A method of servicing a lighting fixture having a can includes sliding the can laterally from a position where the can is centered over the hole to a position where a servicing space is effected between a perimeter of the hole and the can.

    Abstract: A heat sink assembly for mounting an LED module to a surrounding main heat sink member is disclosed. The heat sink assembly has a first plate with inner and outer faces and a peripheral edge. The assembly further includes a second plate that is movable with respect to the first plate and has inner and outer faces and an inwardly-tapered peripheral camming surface. Also included in the assembly is an expandable ring sandwiched between the first and second plates. The ring has an inward peripheral edge that engages the camming surface and an outward heat-transfer surface. The ring is expandable beyond the peripheries of the first and second plates. The heat sink assembly also has a sandwiching-device that adjustably interconnects the first and second plates such that sandwiching of the ring facilitates heat-transfer engagement of the heat-transfer surface with the main heat sink member.

Preferred forms of the compound parabolic reflector include segmented center and side portions. The preferred segmented center portion has a first plurality of two-dimensional parabolic segments each of which has a focal point in a different one of the plural light-emitting segment location regions. The preferred segmented side portions are each provided with a second plurality of two-dimensional parabolic segments having focal points along the light-emitting segment location. The parabolic segments are effective to direct a preponderance of light toward the plural target zone subregions.
