Abstract: The present invention is directed to a multi-filament yarn formed at least in part from filaments having cross-sectional zig-zag or double “W” shape with a 180 degree axis of symmetry. The filaments have a denier per filament generally in the range of about 0.1 to about 4.0. Fabrics made from yarns formed with the filaments have high moisture wicking, soft hand, and a silk-like lustrous appearance.
Abstract: For the purpose of metering a flow of gaseous media, there is arranged a perturbation body in a measuring chamber which has a medium flowing through it, and an ultrasonic excitation signal is transmitted through the measuring chamber transverse to the direction of flow and at a point downstream of the perturbation body. The ultrasonic excitation signal after having traversed the measuring chamber is captured together with the ultrasonic excitation signal transmitted as structure-borne noise. The captured signal is squared first and then demodulated with a filter. An indication for the flow through the measuring chamber is derived from the frequency of the demodulated signal.

Abstract: This invention relates to an improved method for preparing stretchable multiple-component bonded composite sheets which involves bonding a fibrous layer of spirally-crimpable multiple-component continuous filaments or staple fibers to one or more non-spirally-crimpable layers using an array of intermittent mechanical, chemical, or thermal bonds, and heating the bonded composite to activate the spiral crimp of the fibers in the spirally-crimpable layer. Multi-layer nonwoven fabrics prepared according to the method of the current invention have an improved combination of strength, aesthetics, stretch-recovery properties, and textile hand and drape compared to multiple-component nonwoven fabrics known in the art.

Catalysts are formed when the ligands are combined with a catalytically active metal, such as nickel.
Abstract: A castliner in the form of a three-dimensionally knitted sleeve comprises a microdenier yarn, and/or a spandex yarn, in particular, a spandex yarn having a flatter stress-strain curve than traditional spandex yarns. The use of the microdenier yarn contributes to the superior cushioning effect. The stretch and recovery properties of the particular spandex yarn contribute to superior fit and reduction of pressure points on the limb or body part to which the castliner is applied. Furthermore, the castliner is rendered water resistant and has significantly improved antimicrobial properties, both of which reduce incidents of skin irritation and unpleasant smell. As a result, the patient wearing the castliner of the invention is able to bathe and get wet without otherwise replacing the hard casting and castliner after such events.
Abstract: An imaging system including means for transmitting a digital image, an image base, a sensor, means for referencing positions on a dummy, echographic display means, means for recalculation of a three-dimensional image, and means for receiving expert assessment results combining videoconference ability and the possibility of remote manipulation of two-dimensional images.
Abstract: A stitched yarn surface structure includes a backing having decorative upper surface and a thickness dimension T of at least two (2) millimeters. The backing exhibits a predetermined compressive resistance Rb. Plural rows of face yarn segments cover at least a portion of the decorative upper surface of the backing, with adjacent face yarn segments being spaced apart by a predetermined minimum spacing dimension S. The yarns forming the face yarn segments have a predetermined compressive resistance Ry. The compressive resistance Rb, the compressive resistance Ry, and the spacing S are selected such that a load of up to one hundred (100) pounds per square inch (psi) imposed on the stitched yarn surface structure by a loading member is able to be borne by the stitched yarn surface structure without allowing contact between the member and the decorative upper surface of the backing.
Abstract: An apparatus is provided with a storage medium having stored therein programming instructions that implement a set of communication services for receiving on behalf of a plurality of offeror content providers within a call service community, an indication from an offeree acknowledging acceptance of an offer to provide assistance presented to the offeree by one of the plurality of offeror content providers. In one embodiment, independent agents selectively facilitate assisting offerees based at least in part upon certain attributes specific to the offer and/or the offeree.
