Abstract: Method for managing electric power in a network (R) to which are connected, on the one hand, appliances capable of 2-way communication with each other, each appliance consisting of a power subassembly and a control subassembly and, on the other hand, a so-called power manager unit designed to manage load shedding and reconnection functions exclusively affecting the said power subassemblies of each appliance with each disconnectable appliance being disconnected a priori.Any request for significant electric power made by a disconnected appliance results in a transaction between the said appliance and the power manager during which the said requesting disconnected appliances supplies the said power manager with information of a quantitative and qualitative nature concerning the power requested and on completion of which the said power manager authorizes or does not authorize reconnection of the power subassembly of the said requesting appliance.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for supplying a preset quantity of a liquid, using a tank containing the liquid, a check valve distributor, and a hose connecting the tank to the check valve distributor, and having a pumping unit, a solenoid valve, and a pulsed flow meter interposed between the tank and the check valve distributor, including determining a volume difference between a first quantity delivered by the apparatus and a first quantity detected by pulsed flow meter, as the liquid is pumped at constant flow rate, low pressure and under laminar flow, during a first delivery of the liquid; starting a subsequent delivery of the preset quantity of the liquid, by opening the solenoid valve; and stopping the subsequent delivery of the preset quantity of the liquid when a difference between the number of pulses generated by the pulsed flow meter corresponding with the preset quantity, and the number of pulses output by the pulsed flow meter reaches a number of pulses corresponding to the volume difference; and during a
Abstract: According to the invention, a melting composition based on alkali chloride and water is spread on the traffic surface, the melting composition being a mixture containing a small proportion of an additive which increases the thixotropic properties of the mixture without substantially modifying its melting properties. The additive is, for example, hydrophilic pyrogenated colloidal silica, or a hydrated aluminum and/or magnesium silicate, in powder form, of the bentonite or montmorillonite type. The viscosity of the melting composition is thereby increased and simultaneously the speed of evacuation is decreased. The process finds application in the maintenance of pavements during winter.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method allowing the management of electric power on the basis of the tariff schedules in force in a network (20) within a dwelling. The method according to the invention is based on communication which is established automatically between domestic appliances (201-205, 207, 210) and a so-called electric power manager unit (211) of which the task is, in particular, to coordinate the management of tariff schedules. The method makes it possible to slave the operation of appliances (201-205, 207, 210) to the tariff status in force which is known to the manager (211) by means of a link with an electricity meter (200) fitted in the network (20).
Abstract: A prosthesis which is affixed to at least one tooth can be extracted from the mouth of a patient by an implement employing two discrete substantially disc-shaped jaws which are to be bonded to spaced-apart portions of the external surface of the prosthesis by a rapidly setting adhesive. The jaws are permanently or separably connected to spaced-apart portions of an endless cable or to the end portions of a cable of finite length, and the cable is engaged by a follower of a tool which is used by a dentist to pull the cable and to thus detach the prosthesis from the at least one tooth. The adhesive can be polymerizable in response to exposure to light (such as ultraviolet light) which is transmitted thereto through the jaws by an optical conductor.
Abstract: An ampoule is filled completely. The ampoule, formed from a casing which may be made of plastic, for example, or made of transparent, opaque or coloured glass, is closed after is has been filled by a frustoconical transverse closure device. The casing of the closure device has a wall provided with an expansion compensator, if the elastic properties of the material used to make this latter are inadequate for complete filling. Filling orifices are provided with a conical raised portion on the outside. Disposed inside the container are hollow spheres which permit the effects of liquid expansion to be compensated for, if necessary, and which are used to make the liquid homogeneous. Caps protect the filling orifices.
Abstract: A surgical implant for connecting two flexible ligaments to vertebrae having an intervertebral stabilizer including an intra-osseous rod having a first end for implanting into a vertebrae. The intervertebral stabilizer also includes an extra-osseous head extending outwardly of the vertebrae. The extra-osseous head has two stepped portions, each with a peripheral surface, defining two ligament retaining zones. Each of the two ligament retaining zones has a shoulder, forming an axial ligament abutment on the sides of the ligament retaining zones closest to the first end. The extra-osseous head retains two flexible ligaments spaced from the vertebrae and each other by the shoulders.
Abstract: Gear shifting device for a cycle having a chain and pinion transmission is provided, which includes a mobile gear shift assembly adapted to laterally displace the chain for enabling passage from one gear to another gear; transformation elements for transforming rotation of at least one pivoting gear into a lateral displacement of the mobile gear shift assembly; and a control mechanism for controlling lateral displacement of the mobile gear shift assembly. Further, the gear shifting device can include an indexing mechanism to further ensure exact positioning of the gears.
Abstract: The invention relates to a molecular distillation apparatus of the type comprising a metallic conical rotor (12) rotatably driven and fed in its center with a liquid to be distilled, a vacuum bell (10) defining an enclosure housing the cone and means for inductively heating the rotor which are located beneath and in proximity to the latter.According to the invention, the heating means comprise at least two concentric inductors (100a, 100b, 100c) supplying different thermal power densities to homologous regions of the rotor and an inner inductor (100a) supplies a greater thermal power density to the rotor than the power density supplied to the rotor by an outer inductor (100c).The invention also relates to a process for manufacturing an assembly of a rotor and inductors for such an apparatus.

Abstract: An apparatus for transforming an input garbage mixture into separate fermented and non-fermented output products has a fermentation stage for depositing an input garbage mixture into non-compacted swathes to allow fermentation of the fermentable, organic waste materials therein, an input stage for loading the garbage mixture, and at least one grinder/separator stage having a grinder for grinding the garbage mixture into smaller particles and a separator with a screen of a selected mesh size for separating ground waste particles up to the selected mesh size as a fermented output product, and conveying the remainder of the particles to a reject output as a non-fermented output product. Fermentation of the input garbage mixture allows for organic maturation of the fermentable, organic waste materials in the mixture, as well as softening and rendering the fermented materials more susceptible to being broken up into small particles in the grinder/separator stage.
Abstract: Apparatus for transferring cigarettes from a file of coaxial cigarettes issuing from a rod making machine into a filter tipping machine has a rotary transfer conveyor with equidistant receivers which are maintained in parallelism with the cigarettes of the file while orbiting about an axis parallel to the axes of the cigarettes in the file. The receivers accept single cigarettes or pairs of cigarettes from the file and deliver them to a transfer station between the transfer conveyor and a rotary removing conveyor having closely adjacent receivers parallel to and serving to receive cigarettes from the receivers of the transfer conveyor. The speed of receivers forming part of the transfer conveyor equals or slightly exceeds the speed of cigarettes in the file but can considerably exceed the speed of receivers forming part of the removing conveyor. The cigarettes which are transferred into the receivers of the removing conveyor are advanced sideways, i.e.
Abstract: The device according to the invention comprises a vibrating frame (10) to which a vibrating housing (11) is attached, supporting a vibrating screen (12). Below this screen are attached a certain number of fixed bars (14), as well as a certain number of movable bars (15), each held at the extremity of two arms (16) attached by a flexible connection (17). The vibrating housing 11 is driven by a first electric motor (20) used during the normal screening process and a second electric motor (23) which rotates at a lower speed than that of the other motor (20) for unblocking the device by maintaining the movable bars in resonance so that they strike the lower surface of the vibrating screen (12). This device is particularly advantageous because it is adaptable to all vibrating machines.
