Abstract: After they have been washed out, cavities (4) in rock salt contain a large quantity of brine (8) at a temperature which is lower than the temperature of the surrounding formation (2). This means that the cavity cannot be sealed quickly because the brine will expand progressively as it heats up. The method of the invention serves to shorten the time period between the end of working the cavity for salt and being able to abandon the cavity finally from about 30 years to about 2 years. The method consists in injecting quantities of a mixture (12) into the cavity (4), the mixture being of greater density than brine (8) and being capable of setting, with equivalent quantities of brine (8) being returned to the surface, and then in keeping the cavity (4) open after it has been completely filled with mixture (12) for as long as it takes the rock salt (2) to creep and fill up the shrinkage voids which appear during setting of the mixture (12), after which the cavity (4) can be sealed.
Abstract: Articulation fittings for window casings which partially covers the dormant casing and openings according to Italian art include lower compass arms and upper articulation members which cause the top rail of the window casing to project from the dormant casing during window opening movement. To detach immediately the top rail of the window casing from the dormant casing and thus avoid a premature wear and tear of the sealing joints adhering to the window casing, the articulation fittings are provided with means, which at the very beginning of the opening movement, cause the window casing to follow a path having a vertical component while causing the top rail of the window casing to follow a path having a horizontal component.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for fixing lenses in the bezel rims of a spectacle frame, allowing easy and repeated mounting and removal of these lenses on to and from the frame. The bezel of the frame rim has a concave polyganol shape in cross-section. A metal ring sets the lens definitively round its periphery and has a rounded convex external edge. As viewed in cross-section, the contact between this external edge and the bezel is therefore made at points when the ring/lens assembly is fitted in the bezel rim.

Abstract: A device for removing (i.e., suction, capture and trapping) vapors and products carried by the vapors, for placement above a system for cooking food products in water or oil, circulates the exhaust gases in a cyclone having cooled walls to cause cold-wall condensation of the exhaust gases over the flow path through the cyclone.
Abstract: The filter is particularly for implantation in the interior vena cava by sliding through a small sized catheter of type 7F, so as to arrest the migration of all thrombi of dangerous size. The filter comprises a flexible wire having been subjected to a primitive predeformation into first and second substantially flat superposed loops. The loops are substantially symmetrical respectively with regard to two axes which are substantially orthogonal and convergent at a center of the filter. These loops can be elliptic and inscribed in a square, thus providing four contact points with the venous wall, which are in two-to-two symmetry with regard to the center on the longitudinal axis of the vein, which gives the filter high stability in the vein.
Abstract: A lock for doors, windows or the like includes a case for housing a control mechanism having an electric motor for actuating at least one control rod acting upon one or a plurality of locking members. To permit the lease or unlocking of the door, window or the like in case of failure of the electric motor, the electric motor is mounted on a movable bracket which is adapted to vertically move in the case and is actuated by a drive which is controlled manually, and/or electrically and/or electromechanically.

Abstract: A three piece chimney mantel to be disposed about a fireplace. The three pieces are the lintel and a pair of supporting legs. Each of the pieces is formed of a monobloc composite material of binder and inorganic fibrous material formed in the shape of a hollow trough.
Abstract: The invention relates to an upright positioning structure with a pushing bar applying the upright positioning and pushing effort to the sub femoral area (3) and more particularly the ischial-femoral angle (3) of the user, pressing against the ischial projections of the user's pelvis and providing a resistance to forward sliding during the lifting up movement, the buttock and lumbar region of the user remaining outside of the pushing bar and unsupported. This structure is particularly applied to armchairs or fixed or mobile seats.
Abstract: The invention relates to a tangential distributor for stoppers of a given length and diameter. The distributor comprises a pair of rotating coaxial plates separated by a vertical distance which is slightly more than one stopper diameter. Between these plates is formed a passageway between a central portion of the plates and a peripheral area. Properly aligned stoppers are removed from this peripheral area. A baffle is formed into the passageway to orient the stoppers and allow only those oriented tangentially to the plates to pass into the peripheral area. A guide around the peripheral area retains the stoppers in the peripheral area until they are removed. The plates may be rotated at variable velocities for control of the rate of removal and orientation.
Abstract: A method of geologically confining toxic industrial waste, the method consisting of: using a cavity (1) previously leached from a mass of rock salt (2), the cavity being initially filled with brine (5); incorporating the waste in a pumpable waste-containing mixture (10) of density greater than the density of the brine and suitable for setting once put into place; inserting a predetermined quantity of a buffer liquid (7) into the bottom of the cavity by means of a dip tube (8) positioned in a well (4) and in communication with the surface (3), the buffer liquid being immiscible both with the brine and with the waste-containing mixture, the density of the buffer liquid lying between the density of the brine and the density of the waste-containing mixture, and the buffer liquid including one or more halogen-containing solvents; inserting the waste-containing mixture into the cavity by the means of the dip tube while the bottom end of the dip tube is maintained within the previously inserted buffer liquid; and re
Abstract: A chair having assemblable components wherein the seat and back have locking studs of irregular configuration which are selectively receivable within profiled openings in the sides of the chair when the back and seat are in first position and which are locked within the openings as the seat and back are rotated to a proper use position and wherein the seat includes outwardly extending lugs which are cooperatively received in bearings formed in the sides of the chair when the seat is moved to a use position.
Abstract: This invention relates to a paying out device comprising, in the direction of unwinding of a filament, at least one wire clamp, an optional return pulley, a brake pulley and a sliding pulley mounted on one end of a dynamometer arm, the other end of which has a graduated sector with a mechanism for positioning the point of attachment of one end of the dynamometer spring. The opposite end of the spring acts on a system of regulating the braking torque. The dynamometer arm is mounted so as to occupy a working position substantially along one edge of the frame, while an output pulley is arranged with respect to the brake pulley and the arm such that, in the working position of the latter, the filament substantially forms a right angle between the brake pulley and the output pulley, passing through the pulley of the dynamometer arm in the working position.
Abstract: This invention relates to a device for locking an adjusting finger in any one of the notches of a rack, wherein the first mobile element provided with the rack defines windows for the passage of retractable stops capable of being placed opposite the notches to stop the finger of the second mobile element, these stops being located at the free ends of flexible arms inclined in herringbone fashion and integral at their other ends with a sliding element provoking, when it is actuated, bending of said arms which abut on an edge of the windows and thus retraction of the stops.
Abstract: The chair comprises both a seat (1) supported by pairs of legs (2) interconnected by top ties (3) and a back (4) which is pivotally mounted to the seat about pins (11), together with arm rests (12) resting on the ties (3) and hinged to the back (4). Each arm rest (12) is hinged to the back (4) by a hinge device disposed behind the back and comprising a bearing (25) holding a ball (23) formed with the arm rest and offset laterally therefrom, with the bearing having a transverse slot (31) for enabling said arm rest to pass from side to side of a riser member (5) of said back.
