Patent number: 5937887Abstract: A method of assembling an electromagnetically actuatable disc-type valve permits separate assembly of the hydraulic components from the electrical components. The constant shape of the exterior surface of the core member enables the hydraulic sub-assembly to be assembled separately from the electrical sub-assembly and thereafter inserted into the electrical sub-assembly. The valve's plastic covering is applied to the electrical components separately and before the hydraulic components are assembled with the electrical components. In this way, the heat involved does not affect the calibration of the hydraulic components. A bushing is disposed to lock the two sub-assemblies at the desired relative orientation. The fluid filter is inserted into the valve before the calibration slide is inserted into the valve. The valve is flow checked before setting the tension on the armature of the valve.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1997Date of Patent: August 17, 1999Assignee: Sagem Inc.Inventors: Randy C. Baxter, David R. Gallup, H. A. Staples, III

Patent number: 5867317Abstract: The sighting system has a sight including an aiming mirror (16) which is steered about a circular axis that is fixed relative to a support secured to a carrier, and about an elevation axis (18) under the control of motors (15, 22) to bring the direction of light which is received along a reference sighting line in a geographical frame of reference (x, y, z) to the direction of the circular axis, and measurement device for measuring the real angles imparted to the aiming mirror (16) about circular and lateral axes by the motors. A gyro unit continuously delivers angles for converting the reference frame of reference (x, y, z) to a frame of reference tied to the support (x1, y1, z1). A computer and servo-control unit controls the motors (15, 22) on the basis of information received from the gyro unit (60) and from the measurement device.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1996Date of Patent: February 2, 1999Assignee: Sagem SAInventors: Philippe Elie, Jean-Yves Le Cardinal

Patent number: 5867318Abstract: An optical system affords wide-angle imaging with a width in azimuth and a height in elevation respectively greater than and less than those of the field of view of an imaging device to which it is fitted. A median optical axis images a central format view on the optical axis of the imaging device, and two lateral optical paths image two lateral format views on a bearing axis at a bearing angle to the optical axis equal to the width in azimuth of the field of view of the imaging device. The three paths juxtaposed in the wide-angle field of view are superposed into a resultant format image.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1996Date of Patent: February 2, 1999Assignee: Sagem SAInventors: Chantal Cordier, Jean Lacuve

Patent number: 5779264Abstract: A crash detector arrangement comprises a crash sensor(1) in the form of an accelerometer which provides a signal to a micro-processor(2) which uses a first algorithm to determine if the signal is representative of a crash of a predetermined severity and which consequently provides an output(8) rendering a first switch(9) conductive. The output of the accelerometer(1) is provided also to the micro-processor(2) through a high pass filter. This input to the micro-processor is processed by another, different, algorithm determined to differentiate a crash from a signal error in the accelerometer. A second output(7) is generated by the micro-processor which is used to assist in the control of a further switch(13). The two switches(9,13) are in a series connection incorporating a source of power(10) and a resistor(12). When current passes through the resistor, the safety device is activated.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1997Date of Patent: July 14, 1998Assignee: Sagem-AutolivInventors: Bernard de Mersseman, Philippe Aubertin
