  • Patent number: 6216008
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for retransmitting a short message in a mobile radio terminal upon a transmission failure of the short message. The method includes the step of transmitting the short message and determining whether the short message is successfully transmitted. It is then determined whether a user selects a retransmission function for the short message, when the short message is not successfully transmitted. The short message is retransmitted, when the user selects the retransmission function.

  • Patent number: 6207557
Abstract: A method of forming a multilayer titanium nitride film hardly containing any Cl component by a multiple step chemical vapor deposition method, and a method of manufacturing a semiconductor device using the same are provided. In the present invention, a multilayer TiN film is formed by multiple step chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on a semiconductor substrate on which an underlayer is formed. In order to form the multilayer TiN film, an underlayer protective TiN film is formed by forming a first TiN film on the underlayer and NH3 annealing the first TiN film. A main TiN film is formed by forming a second TiN film on the underlayer protective TiN film and NH3 annealing the second TiN film. A source gas used in order to form the first TiN film has a smaller TiCl4 to NH3 gas flow ratio than a source gas for forming the second TiN film. In order to apply the multilayer TiN film to the fabrication of the semiconductor device, an insulating film having a contact hole is formed on a semiconductor substrate.

  • Patent number: 6208868
Abstract: A communication method in a cordless telephone system having a base unit with which a plurality of portable units can be registered, and a portable unit registrable with a plurality of base units. In the method, if the base unit goes off-hook for requesting a call, a busy signal is sent to all the portable units registered with the base unit. If the call is terminated in the base unit, a call termination signal is sent to all the portable units. Upon reception of the busy signal, a portable unit stores data indicating that the base unit is busy in a selection table of a memory. For initiating a call, the portable unit sends a call request signal to a primary base unit listed in the selection table if the primary base unit is not busy, and otherwise, to another idle base unit. When a call termination signal is received from the busy base unit, the busy state indicating data is deleted in the selection table.

  • Patent number: 6207480
Abstract: A gate insulating layer, an amorphous silicon layer, a doped amorphous silicon layer and a Cr layer are sequentially deposited on a substrate on which a gate wire is formed. Next, the Cr layer is patterned to form a data line, a source electrode and a drain electrode. The doped amorphous silicon layer and the amorphous silicon layer are patterned at the same time, and the doped amorphous silicon layer is etched by using the data line, the source electrode and the drain electrode as etch stopper. Subsequently, a passivation layer is deposited and patterned to form a contact hole. An ITO layer is deposited and patterned to form a pixel electrode. According to the present invention, an oxide layer is prevented by performing a sequential deposition of the four layers in a vacuum state. As a result, the on current of the TFT is increased, and HF cleaning is not necessary because no oxide layer is formed. Therefore, the overall TFT manufacturing process is simplified.

  • Patent number: 6181606
Abstract: Nonvolatile integrated circuit memory devices include a memory cell array having a plurality of rows of memory cells therein that are electrically coupled to respective word lines. A word line driver circuit is provided having a plurality of outputs electrically coupled to the word lines. A preferred voltage supply control circuit is also provided. This voltage supply control circuit is responsive to a verify enable signal and a flag signal and powers the word line driver circuit at a first voltage level when the verify enable signal is inactive or the flag signal is active, and powers the word line driver circuit at a second voltage level greater than the first voltage level when the verify enable signal is active and the flag signal is inactive. The first voltage level corresponds to a power supply voltage level Vcc and the second voltage level corresponds to a boosted voltage level Vpp having a magnitude that exceeds a magnitude of the power supply voltage level Vcc.

  • Patent number: 6133783
Abstract: A system and method for use in cancelling phase jitter in a Phase Locked Loop (PLL) circuit. A phase jitter canceller receives a phase error signal having phase jitter centered around a center frequency. A frequency and phase control circuit determines the phase of a particular component of phase jitter and an amplitude control circuit determines the amplitude of the particular component of phase jitter in the signal. The output of the phase jitter canceller provides an estimate of the particular component of phase jitter. A parallel arrangement of phase jitter cancellers is also provided for use in cancelling several components of phase jitter.

  • Patent number: 5621401
Abstract: A circuit for sensing keyboard input conditions, which includes a slot coupled to regulated signal lines, a supplementary circuit which generates a "Low" active signal in accordance with keyboard input activity after taking input signals from the slot, and a logic device or controller which performs a power-saving function by sensing input conditions from said slot with an interrupt request line or the supplementary circuit. The so-modified system can overcome the limits of a PC, in which the power-saving function can be performed only in the motherboard, by adding the power saving function to the system which has no logic device in the motherboard and also by sensing keyboard input conditions in a logic device included in an option card. This circuit can generate the appropriate signal by monitoring the regulated slot signals and has the same power-saving function that is performed in the motherboard itself when there is no keyboard inputting for a predetermined time.

  • Patent number: 5478973
Abstract: A semiconductor contact bump structure is disclosed in which at least one contact bump is formed on an electrode pad of a semiconductor substrate through a contact window formed in a passivation layer on the semiconductor substrate. The contact bump has different lengths along respective perpendicular directions. In a first direction, the bump covers first edges of the passivation layer which define the contact window, while in a second direction, the contact bump is formed to be fully between second edges of the passivation layer defining the contact window. Such a construction results in a chip bump having an upper surface which is concavely curved along the first direction. By attaching leads to the bump along the second direction, junction resistance is advantageously lowered and noise generation is controlled to improve reliability of a semiconductor package. Also, shorting of the lead is prevented owing to the strong bonding force to improve yield of the semiconductor package.
