  • Publication number: 20150159425
Abstract: The exemplary embodiments described herein include magnetically sealed enclosures comprising mitered edges, for example, an inside storm window or other window cover that can be mounted to a window frame by two magnetic tape strips, one which adheres to the frame and another which adheres to the window cover. The magnetic attraction between the tape strips, especially at the mitered edges assures an effective seal around the entirety of the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 9032668
Abstract: A roll-up door seal that may be monolithically formed from a single material of uniform density. The seal is sized and adapted to assemble to a standard roll-up door frame without a separate or dedicated frame structure. The seal provides redundant sealing surfaces, positioned to cooperate with both the door and door frame, which ensure an effective and durable fluid tight seal between the cargo space enclosed by the roll-up door and the ambient environment. The seal may be produced by extrusion from a flexible, weather resistant material such as EPDM, thereby providing a low cost solution for sealing roll-up doors having industry standard door frame constructions. The seal is firmly engageable with the door frame, such that the seal may be installed with little or no secondary fixation.

  • Patent number: 9022698
Abstract: A method of chemically and physically treating unconsolidated soils, over burden, fill and certain waste materials (the “ground”), or partly consolidated materials that can be excavated and broken up by normal earth moving and soil mixing equipment. This treatment results in the reduction of permeability in the ground, and as a result permits the prevention or control of contaminant migration from a site containing ground wastes of various types, thereby isolating these wastes.

  • Patent number: 8979093
Abstract: A pressure balanced shaft seal assembly that allows a seal to dynamically respond to angular or radial misalignment of a shaft includes a fixed stator, a floating stator, and a labyrinth seal. In one embodiment, the floating stator and labyrinth seal are mounted within an annular groove formed in the fixed stator such that the floating stator and labyrinth seal may move a predetermined amount in the radial direction with respect to the fixed stator. A spherical interface between the labyrinth seal and floating stator may allow the labyrinth seal to pivot with respect to the floating stator during angular misalignment of a shaft around which the pressure balanced shaft seal assembly is mounted. A pressure balancing annular channel formed in the floating stator allows pressurized seal fluid to balance the axial pressure exerted on the floating stator by the process fluid.

  • Patent number: 8950437
Abstract: An apparatus includes one or more sealing elements to be transported along a duct by the flow of fluid therein at an internal pressure and to be drawn to a leak by the pressure differential resulting from a reduced pressure associated with the locality of that leak. Each sealing element has a body formed from an elastic material to have one or more impermeable bubbles filled with gas so that the sealing element has a volume which varies resiliently according to the change in volume of the bubble(s) in response to externally applied pressure. The product of the volume of the bubble(s) and the pressure of the gas therein is selected to provide a sealing element having a transport volume at the internal pressure which is appropriate to enter a leak and which, in response to the reduced pressure associated with the locality of that leak, is capable of increasing in volume from the transport volume sufficiently to seal that leak.

  • Patent number: 8938823
Abstract: In one aspect, the invention provides an insert that is incorporated into laminated countertops during fabrication of stock countertop material. Once installed, a guide portion of the insert serves as a template for the later removal of a selected cut-out portion of the insert, to leave an opening in the countertop defined at least in part by a remaining portion of the insert. In this way, the insert may for example serve as both a template for cutting a sink opening in a laminated countertop, and as a component of a sink undermounting system in the laminated countertop.

  • Publication number: 20150021908
Abstract: A high-pressure bi-directional sealing system having outer support rings (30, 32), annular, axial seals (100, 300) between the outer support rings (30, 32), inner support rings (150, 160) located between the annular, axial seals (100, 300) and a redundant seal (200) that is located between the inner support rings (150, 160). The outer support rings (30, 32), seals (100, 300), inner support rings (150, 160) and redundant seal (200) are located within a space between an outer tube (12) and an inner tube (14) that is telescopically disposed within the outer tube (12). Seals (100) and (300) are oriented in opposite directions. Specifically, the opening of seal (100) is facing in a first direction and the opening of seal (300) is facing in a second direction that is opposite the first direction. This configuration enables the high-pressure bi-directional sealing system to handle pressure in both directions.

  • Publication number: 20140352227
Abstract: A one-piece seal is used between the rear doors of a semi-trailer truck and the rear frame of the truck, the seal having a good compression set resistance. The seal is made from multiple extrusion members that are fused, welded, or otherwise integrally, monolithically connected at corner joints to form a central opening. The extrusion members have a sealing profile, or cross-section, that allows for the compression and deflection of a pair of sealing lobes to create inner and outer seals, respectively, between the trailer frame and the door structure at the rear of a semi-trailer truck, as well as between the doors themselves.
