  • Patent number: 9787579
Abstract: Some embodiments override network or router level path selection with application or server controlled path selection by repurposing the type-of-service (ToS) or differentiated services header field. A mapping table maps different ToS values to different available transit provider paths to a particular destination. A server generating a packet to the destination selects one of the available paths according to any of load balanced, failover, or performance optimization criteria. The server sets the packet header ToS field with the value assigned to the selected path. A router operating in the same network as the server is configured with policy based routing rules that similarly map the ToS values to different transit provider paths to the particular destination network. Upon receiving the server generated packet, the router routes the packet to the destination network through the transit provider path identified in the packet header by the server set ToS value.

  • Patent number: 9783590
Abstract: Identified herein are different forms of bitter receptor genes that occur in different humans. These alleles are generated by numerous coding single nucleotide polymorphisms (cSNP's) that occur within the members of the T2R gene family. Some SNP's cause amino acid substitutions, while others introduce chain termination codons, rendering the allele non-functional. Differences in these genes are believed to have a large effect on those individuals' sense of bitter taste, such that these individuals perceive the taste of bitter substances differently than the rest of the population. The ability to assay this allelic information is useful in the development of flavorings and flavor enhancers, as it can be used to define large groups and populations who perceive bitter tastes differently. This in turn allows the taste preferences of these groups to be addressed at the molecular level for the first time.

  • Patent number: 9784884
Abstract: A gas presence and distance thereof are calculated using pulsed neutron data. A distance of a gas flow path and a velocity of the gas flow therein are calculated using distributed acoustic sensors. The gas saturation and distance, and gas velocity and distance obtained from the noise data are correlated to obtain a first calculated distance and velocity values. The distance and the velocity of the gas flow are calculated using distributed Doppler sensors. The distance and velocity values are compared with the first calculated distance and velocity values to obtain a second calculated distance and velocity values. The distance of the gas flow and the velocity of the gas flow are calculated using distributed temperature sensors. The distance and velocity values are compared with the second calculated distance and velocity values to determine a distance of a cement interface, and a velocity of a gas flow therein.
