  • Publication number: 20160367658
Abstract: Chimeric flaviviruses that are avirulent and immunogenic are provided. The chimeric viruses are constructed to contain amino acid mutations in the nonstructural viral proteins of a flavivirus. Chimeric viruses containing the attenuation-mutated nonstructural genes of the virus are used as a backbone into which the structural genes of a second flavivirus strain are inserted. These chimeric viruses elicit pronounced immunogenicity yet lack the accompanying clinical symptoms of viral disease. The attenuated chimeric viruses are effective as immunogens or vaccines and may be combined in a pharmaceutical composition to confer simultaneous immunity against several strains of pathogenic flaviviruses.

  • Publication number: 20160369160
Abstract: Methods including deactivation and activation of permeability modifiers for use in subterranean formation operations. A first treatment fluid may be introduced into a subterranean formation having a first treatment zone having a first aqueous permeability value, the first treatment fluid comprising a first aqueous base fluid and a deactivated permeability modifier. The deactivated permeability modifier may be adsorbed onto a surface of the first treatment zone. A second treatment may thereafter be introduced into the subterranean formation, the second treatment fluid comprising a second aqueous base fluid and a cyclodextrin compound. The second treatment fluid may contact the deactivated permeability modifier to activate the permeability modifier by complexing the deactivating surfactant with the cyclodextrin compound, thereby forming an activated permeability modifier adsorbed onto the surface of the first treatment zone and reducing the aqueous permeability of the first treatment zone.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for detecting outliers in real-time for a univariate time-series signal. The system may receive the univariate time-series signal, comprising a plurality of datasets, from a data source. The system may compute a standard deviation of a dataset of the plurality of datasets. Subsequently, the system may compute the optimal sample block size and the critical sample size of the dataset. Further, the system may determine the optimal operational block size of the dataset. The system may segment the plurality of datasets into blocks based upon the optimal operational block size. The system may detect the outliers by performing an outlier detection technique on the blocks, thereby ensuring improved execution time while minimally affecting precision and accuracy of the outcome of the outlier detection method.

  • Publication number: 20160369572
Abstract: In a method for repairing a fractured coated continuous sucker rod, the pin end segment of the broken rod is discarded, the remaining rod is cut off, and the existing rod coating is trimmed back from the rod cut-off point. A replacement pin end, incorporating a rod portion and an upset pin end, is welded to the cut-off end of the sucker rod. A resilient cylindrical repair sleeve with a longitudinal slit is spread open and urged by radial force over and around the rod portion of the replacement pin end and the adjoining exposed portion of the sucker rod. Using an appropriate fusing apparatus, the edges of the repair sleeve's longitudinal slit are then fused together, and one end of the sleeve is circumferentially fused to the trimmed-back existing coating. Repair sleeves can also be used to repair damaged sections of coating on unfractured sucker rods.
