  • Patent number: 9518790
Abstract: A plug for sealing the end of a tube including a cylindrical housing member having longitudinal bore that communicates with a threaded portion. An insert post having a threaded body is received within the threaded portion of the bore and supports a frustroconical member that deflects at least a portion of the wall of the housing member that is highly ductile when a rear nut is threaded onto the body of the insert post. The frustroconical member has a correspondingly large angle of taper to deflect the wall of the housing member outwardly as much as possible without causing fracturing of the wall.

  • Patent number: 9519614
Abstract: Some embodiments provide an optimized multi-hit caching technique that minimizes the performance impact associated with caching of long-tail content while retaining much of the efficiency and minimal overhead associated with first hit caching in determining when to cache content. The optimized multi-hit caching utilizes a modified bloom filter implementation that performs flushing and state rolling to delete indices representing stale content from a bit array used to track hit counts without affecting identification of other content that may be represented with indices overlapping with those representing the stale content. Specifically, a copy of the bit array is stored prior to flushing the bit array so as to avoid losing track of previously requested and cached content when flushing the bit arrays and the flushing is performed to remove the bit indices representing stale content from the bit array and to minimize the possibility of a false positive.

  • Patent number: 9516886
Abstract: An animal stunning apparatus for inducing unconsciousness and insensibility of a live subject animal includes an applicator for contacting an application point on the live subject animal's head and couples microwave radiation to the head. A microwave generator generates microwave energy of a suitable power level and frequency, and a waveguide directs the microwave radiation to the applicator. An auto-tuner in the waveguide uses a directional coupler to detect forward and reflected power and to tune in real time the impedance for matching the load and optimize effective power transfer. A switch discontinues the application of microwave radiation that is heating the frontal portion of the brain after a period of time sufficient to induce the unconsciousness and insensibility. Methods for inducing rapid unconsciousness and insensibility in an animal include application of microwave radiation.

  • Patent number: 9519634
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for identifying one or more target words of a corpus that have a lexical relationship to a plurality of provided cue words. The cue words and statistical lexical information derived from a corpus of documents are analyzed to determine candidate words that have a lexical association with the cue words. The statistical information includes numerical values indicative of probabilities of word pairs appearing together as adjacent words in a well-formed text or appearing together within a paragraph of a well-formed text. For each candidate word, a statistical association score between the candidate word and each of the cue words is determined. An aggregate score for each of the candidate words is determined based on the statistical association scores. One or more of the candidate words are selected to be the one or more target words based on the aggregate scores.
