  • Publication number: 20120066133
Abstract: Limited use account identifiers or secondary account identifiers are enabled with refresh capability. The refreshable account identifiers are used in financial transactions and, specifically, in transaction situations where multiple and/or duplicate authorization requests occur for the same or related transactions. An authorization refresh may occur if a settlement request is received for a transaction. The limited use account identifiers may be used by intermediaries that coordinate the purchase of an item for a buyer.

  • Publication number: 20120066080
Abstract: Instead of a PIN which is associated with an account and provides access to an account, a dynamically generated card identifier (dynamic CID) is used to verify that the consumer currently possesses the transaction card at the time of purchase and/or is the true card owner. At the time of purchase, a token generates a dynamic CID, which changes with each transaction. A consumer enters the dynamic CID into a pre-existing CID field in an electronic order form. The merchant then sends the dynamic CID to a card authorization system within an authorization request. The card authorization system issues a response to a merchant system via a pre-existing authorization message indicating that the transaction card and dynamic CID have been validated, thereby adjusting the fraud risk associated with the transaction.

  • Patent number: 8135658
Abstract: Decision software implements a decision process that handles and decides a request from a requestor in a generally automated manner. The decision software denies the request according to a predefined standard. Information relating to the request and the denial decision is stored as a quote, and it is determined that further consideration of the denial decision by a human reviewer of the organization is desired. The human reviewer is contacted and retrieves the stored quote by way of an actuated interface that presents the quote as a focused screen including information from the quote and a determination entry device. The human interviewer determines based at least in part on the focused screen whether to over-ride the denial decision and enters such determination into the determination entry device. The entered determination is stored with the stored quote and the request proceeds in accordance with the stored determination.

  • Patent number: 8134477
Abstract: A logging tool has three seismic sensors that generate seismic signals in response to microseismic events and can be a Triaxial Borehole Seismic system. The tool also has additional sensors, such as a wireline tension measuring circuit, a gamma ray sensor, an inclinometer, and a gyroscope. The tool deploys downhole with a multi-conductor (i.e., seven conductor) wireline. For the seismic signals, a telemetry unit on the tool derives frequency-modulated carrier signals from the seismic signals, and a transformer of the unit transmits these carrier signals to surface acquisition equipment using cross-wired pairs of conductors in the wireline connected to the transformer's terminals. For the signals from the other sensors, the telemetry unit derives analog carrier signals from their signals and transmits the analog carrier signals to the surface acquisition equipment using remaining conductors of the wireline.
