Publication number: 20240428114Abstract: The present invention provides an improved method and system for variational quantum algorithms (VQA). Procedures set out herein include receiving a quantum circuit for implementing the VQA, the quantum circuit being parameterised by a set of quantum circuit parameters. A cost function for the circuit is formulated as a non-convex polynomial optimisation problem. Next moment/Sums of Squares, SOS, relaxations are applied to the non-convex polynomial optimisation problem to generate a hierarchy of semidefinite programming (SDP) relaxations that approximate the non-convex polynomial optimisation problem. These SDP relaxations are then solved using classical optimisation algorithms. The solutions are used to update the quantum circuit parameters, thereby providing an improved VQA circuit. Upon repeated iterations of the procedure, this provably converges toward the optimal VQA circuit for the problem at hand.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2024Publication date: December 26, 2024Applicant: HSBC Group Management Services LimitedInventors: Georgios KORPAS, Waqas PARVAIZ, Philip INTALLURA, Jakub MARECEK

Publication number: 20240426771Abstract: Current approaches for detecting water saturated regions in a rockmass uses geophysical methods, such as electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), self-potential (SP), and seismic imaging to spatially detect and map the rock water content in underground mines. However, all these approaches are contact based. Present disclosure provides a non-contact method and system for inspecting and detecting water saturated regions in a rockmass. The system uses coherent radar generated range-compressed data collected from a plurality of rock specimens for generating a generalized calibration function using a range doppler algorithm and a phase tracking algorithm. The system then uses the generated generalized calibration function for estimating water saturation of a target rockmass along with the use of the RDA and the phase tracking algorithm.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2024Publication date: December 26, 2024Applicant: Tata Consultancy Services LimitedInventors: AMIT SWAIN, ANWESHA KHASNOBISH, TAPAS CHAKRAVARTY, CHIRABRATA BHAUMIK

Publication number: 20240428123Abstract: Methods and systems are described herein for updating machine learning models using weights. The system inputs, into a machine learning model, a dataset including entries and features to obtain a relative impact of each feature. The system generates, using the relative impacts, a sparsity metric for each entry, each sparsity metric indicating a measure of a number of features used to generate a corresponding prediction. The system retrieves a sparsity threshold for assigning weights to the plurality of entries. The system generates an updated dataset based on assigning, to each entry within the dataset, a corresponding weight. Each corresponding weight is determined based on a relation of the sparsity metric to the sparsity threshold. The system inputs, into the machine learning model, the updated dataset to update the machine learning model based on the corresponding weights, where the machine learning model relies more heavily on entries with higher corresponding weights.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 20, 2023Publication date: December 26, 2024Applicant: Capital One Services, LLCInventors: Samuel SHARPE, Brian BARR

Publication number: 20240428582Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to methods and systems for crop damage assessment using semantic reasoning. Conventional techniques using only specific data either individually or in a combination may result in bias and may not accurately estimate the crop damage, due to diversity in each of the natural calamities. The present disclosure solves the technical problems in the art using domain ontologies and a semantic reasoning over the spatio-temporal data for the automatic assessment of the crop damage due to the natural calamities. The present disclosure establishes automated crop loss assessment using trigger-based analysis of plurality of sources like satellite-based earth observations, weather observations, social media posts and news articles, for obtaining a spatio-temporal data. Then the spatio-temporal data is reasoned over the domain knowledge graph, using the semantic reasoning technique, for the crop damage assessment.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2024Publication date: December 26, 2024Applicant: Tata Consultancy Services LimitedInventors: SURYAKANT ASHOK SAWANT, ANKUR PANDIT, SRINIVASU PAPPULA, JAYANTRAO MOHITE
