Abstract: A method of manufacturing aggregate particles capable of obtaining aggregate particles having high mechanical strength, small particle size, with narrow particle size distribution width by preventing interfusion of bubbles in the aggregate particles during stirring is provided. Aggregate particles are manufactured by stirring a resin particle slurry including resin particles dispersed in an aqueous medium and contained in a stirring vessel by a stirring section having a impeller and two or more screen members disposed so as to surround the impeller in the stirring vessel and each formed with a plurality of slits and aggregating the resin particles.
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a configurable user interface on an imaging device are disclosed. An exemplary system includes an imaging device. The imaging device includes a processor and memory in electronic communication with the processor. Instructions are stored in the memory. The instructions are executable to implement a method to provide a configurable user interface. A user interface edit mode is entered. A part of the user interface is presented to a user for modification. User input is received from the user to modify the part of the user interface. The part of the user interface with the modification is then saved. The user interface edit mode is exited, and the user interface that includes the modification made by the user is presented.
Abstract: A cathodic active material according to the present invention has a composition represented by general formula (1): Li(1-a)AaFe(1-x-b)M(x-c)P(1-y)SiyO4??(1), where A is at least one type of element selected from the group consisting of Na, K, Fe, and M; Fe has an average valence of +2 or more; M is an element having a valence of +2 or more and at least one type of element selected from the group consisting of Zr, Sn, Y, and Al, the average valence of M being different from the average valence of Fe; 0<a?0.125; a=b+c+d, where b is the number of moles of Fe in A, c is the number of moles of M in A, and d is the total number of moles of Na and K in A; 0<x?0.5; and 0<y?0.5. This makes it possible to realize a cathodic active material that not only excels in terms of safety and cost but also can provide a long-life battery.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device including a pair of substrates in a spaced relationship with one another. A pair of alignment films are provided, one alignment film being formed on each substrate such that the alignment films face one another. A liquid crystal layer, including plural liquid crystals, is inserted between the pair of alignment films, wherein the alignment films impart a given pre-tilt angle to the liquid crystals. The alignment films are composed of a material containing at least two types of polymers having a prescribed initial alignment and different alignment variation rates in response to ultraviolet ray irradiation. The pre-tilt angle being adjusted, without rubbing the alignment films, through ultraviolet exposure of the alignment films.

Abstract: There is provided a method for manufacturing an aluminum-containing nitride intermediate layer, a method for manufacturing a nitride layer, and a method for manufacturing a nitride semiconductor element by using the nitride layer, in which at least one of the following conditions (i) to (iii) is employed during stacking of the aluminum-containing nitride intermediate layer by using a DC magnetron sputtering method in which a voltage is applied by means of a DC-continuous scheme. Abstract: A germanium (Ge) short wavelength infrared (SWIR) imager and associated fabrication process are provided. The imager comprises a silicon (Si) substrate with doped wells. An array of pin diodes is formed in a relaxed Ge-containing film overlying the Si substrate, each pin diode having a flip-chip interface. There is a Ge/Si interface, and a doped Ge-containing buffer interposed between the Ge-containing film and the Ge/Si interface. An array of Si CMOS readout circuits is bonded to the flip-chip interfaces. Each readout circuit has a zero volt diode bias interface.

Abstract: There is provided a storage layer (13) between storage layers (11), (15). The storage layer (13) produces a relatively large spherical aberration for a protection layer thickness error. Information is written to or read from the storage layer (13) with a beam of light having a second wavelength. Information is written to or read from the storage layers (11), (15) with a beam of light having a first wavelength (longer than the second wavelength). Accordingly, a multi-format optical storage medium is realized on which information can be recorded or reproduced with a single objective lens. Also, an optical pickup is realized which is capable of recording or reproducing information on the multi-format optical storage medium.
Abstract: An iridium oxide (IrOx) nanowire neural sensor array and associated fabrication method are provided. The method provides a substrate with a conductive layer overlying the substrate, and a dielectric layer overlying the conductive layer. The substrate can be a material such as Si, SiO2, quartz, glass, or polyimide, and the conductive layer is a material such as ITO, SnO2, ZnO, TiO2, doped ITO, doped SnO2, doped ZnO, doped TiO2, TiN, TaN, Au, Pt, or Ir. The dielectric layer is selectively wet etched, forming contact holes with sloped walls in the dielectric layer and exposing regions of the conductive layer. IrOx nanowire neural interfaces are grown from the exposed regions of the conductive layer. The IrOx nanowire neural interfaces each have a cross-section in a range of 0.5 to 10 micrometers, and may be shaped as a circle, rectangle, or oval.

Abstract: A washing machine includes: a drum (630) in which laundry is put; an ion elution unit that elutes metal ions and adds them to water; a sensing unit (701) for sensing imbalance at the time of rotation of the laundry tub; and an imbalance correcting unit (702). When the sensing unit senses imbalance in the drum at the time of spin-drying rotation of the drum performed after metal ion added water supplied from the ion elution unit to the drum is supplied, the imbalance correcting unit corrects the imbalance by performing a processing different from a processing performed when imbalance is sensed in a case where the metal ion added water is not supplied. The different processing is not supply of tap water but balance correction rinsing in which the metal ion added water is supplied to the drum and agitation is performed.
Abstract: Novel compounds of the structural formula (I) are antagonists and/or inverse agonists of the Cannabinoid-1 (CB1) receptor and are useful in the treatment, prevention and suppression of diseases mediated by the CB1 receptor. The compounds of the present invention are useful as centrally acting drugs in the treatment of psychosis, memory deficits, cognitive disorders, migraine, neuropathy, neuro-inflammatory disorders including multiple sclerosis and Guillain-Barre syndrome and the inflammatory sequelae of viral encephalitis, cerebral vascular accidents, and head trauma, anxiety disorders, stress, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, movement disorders, and schizophrenia. The compounds are also useful for the treatment of substance abuse disorders, the treatment of obesity or eating disorders, as well as the treatment of asthma, constipation, chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction, and cirrhosis of the liver.
