Abstract: Methods for predicting a high dynamic range (HDR) image element based on a received low dynamic range (LDR) image element or data and a HDR image element or data. LDR data is extracted to create either a color-converted image element or a LDR image luminance element and a LDR image chrominance element. The created image element or elements are modified either based on prediction data or through a luminance modification operation and a chrominance modification operation. The HDR residual image element is then combined with either a HDR prediction image element or a HDR luminance prediction element and a HDR chrominance prediction element to form an HDR image element. Alternatively, a residual HDR image element may be calculated through a comparison operation.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention comprise systems and methods for surround-specific display modeling in which the brightness of a display is varied based on a perceptual brightness model that is expressed as a function of the illumination level that surrounds a display as it is being perceived by a viewer.
Abstract: A color laser printer is provided with a first exhaust duct for exhausting ozone generated by a charging unit etc. inside a housing to the outside of the housing. The first exhaust duct is therein provided with a catalytic honeycomb filter for ozone gas treatment and an ion emitting unit for emitting negative ions into an atmosphere. Most of an ozone gas component is decomposed and/or absorbed by the catalytic honeycomb filter for ozone gas treatment. Furthermore, the residual ozone gas component is decomposed by the negative ions generated by the ion emitting unit. This arrangement makes it possible to provide a new ozone removal device which is different from an ozone decomposing filter or a heat source.
Abstract: A color filter substrate and a liquid crystal display apparatus include, on a substrate: a colorized layer including color layers; a stacked layer protruding in comparison with the colorized layer; an opposing electrode covering the colorized layer and the stacked layer; an alignment layer formed at least on a part of the opposing electrode covering the colorized layer; and an insulating layer stacked on an entire surface of another part of the opposing electrode covering the stacked layer. With this, the short circuit between the opposing electrode and a pixel electrode is prevented, so that a color filter substrate, a liquid crystal display apparatus including the color filter substrate, and a method of manufacturing the color substrate, those being able to improve the yield of the liquid crystal display apparatus, are provided.

Abstract: Scan-to-print color rendering in a system including a scanner engine and a print engine may include, in an exemplary embodiment, storing or providing an index table of respective scanned values in a scanner color space corresponding to each output color printed by the print engine. A color target may be scanned using the scanner engine to provide digital image data in a scanner color space. For each image-scan pixel, a closest scanned value is selected from the index table for a corresponding output color. A color difference is determined a between the image-scan pixel and the closest value as an error for that image-scan pixel. Color error diffusion is applied to compensate for the color difference by distributing the error to neighbor pixels.

Abstract: An on-vehicle display control unit includes a CPU to which vehicle data of various kinds are inputted and a graphic LSI arranged to generate display data to be outputted to a display. The graphic LSI is arranged to generate predetermined display data from image data generated by a meter ECU. However, if there is a problem in a state of the meter ECU or an input status of 3D moving picture data, the graphic LSI receives a fail safe control from the CPU (4), thereby to generate fail safe display data corresponding to the predetermined display data. This realizes an on-vehicle display system capable of stably displaying important vehicle information.
Abstract: An illumination device includes an LED package, an LED driver including an FET, and a thermistor disposed on a substrate. A plurality of such LED packages are disposed on the substrate such that a first area and a second area, each determined by vertices corresponding to LED packages, are defined on the substrate. The thermistor is disposed in the first area, and the FET is disposed in the second area, which is outside of the first area. The thermistor detects a temperature in the first area. Such a configuration allows the thermistor to detect, in accordance with the temperature in the area, the temperature of heat transferred from the LED packages, without being affected by heat generated by the FET. This makes it possible to efficiently make temperature corrections to stabilize color temperature and luminance.
Abstract: Update initial set values set by a manager are able to be obtained each time a printer driver is activated and changing of a setting such as changing of printing conditions due to ecology-printing etc., and changing of an option configuration such as a large capacity cassette is reflected promptly and reliably. The printer driver includes an access portion which accesses an MFP storing initial set values of the printer driver in each activation, a set value comparing portion which compares initial set values set to the printer driver and initial set values stored in the MFP, and a set value selecting portion which selects either initial set values of the printer driver or initial set values of the MFP based on a comparison result.
Abstract: A job joining capability is used in a Multifunction Peripheral Device (MFP) to conduct continuous Raster Image Processing (RIP) across multiple job boundaries. Print jobs which do not have inter-RIP conflicts are printed back-to-back as a continuous single RIP. This is particularly advantageous for single copy, single page, and other small print jobs.
Abstract: An image capturing apparatus has a plurality of solid-state image capturing devices each having light receiving sections laminated in a depth direction of a semiconductor substrate. The devices are sequentially arranged in a direction along a substrate surface. Incident light waves having wavelength bands corresponding to depths of respective light receiving sections are detected there and generate signal charges. Bands are associated with light receiving sections by the wavelength dependence of the optical absorption. Trench sections each reach from a light incident surface or an opposite substrate surface to respective light receiving sections that do not overlap each other in a plane view. Electric charge transfer sections transfer electric charges independently from the light receiving sections via side wall portions of their respective trenches to the light incident surface side or the opposite substrate surface side at the time of driving readout gate electrodes at each trench section.
Abstract: A light-source cover for controlling transmission of light from a light source mounted in a portable device is made of an optical material. The front surface of the light-source cover has a knurl finish composed of linear grooves and the back surface thereof has a spin finish composed of ripple grooves. Alternatively, both the front and back surfaces of the light-source cover have knurl finishes composed of linear grooves. Still alternatively, only the back surface of the light-source cover has a knurl finish or a spin finish.

Abstract: An inkjet head (1) has a liquid flow path section (3) for receiving liquid and, in response to application of a voltage, ejecting the liquid to an object on which a drawing is to be made. The degree of design freedom of the shape of the liquid channel section (3) or the shape of a liquid channel in the liquid channel section (3) can be improved because the liquid channel section (3) is formed on the upper surface of a substrate. Furthermore, the inkjet head can have a structure corresponding to the properties of liquid to be ejected or to an object to which the liquid is to be ejected.
