  • Patent number: 7548371
Abstract: An optical film is provided for use in a light source or display to provide rapid cut-off of illumination with angle. The film comprises a light-transmissive substrate of a material having a reflective index greater than one and having first and second major surfaces. A surface relief is formed on at least one of the major surfaces and includes a mirror structure. The mirror structure comprises a groups of specularly reflective surfaces alternating in at least one direction with groups of transmissive surfaces. The film directs light passing therethrough into a desired angular output range, and light reflected back by the mirror structure is returned to a light source for recycling to enhance display brightness.

  • Patent number: 7548722
Abstract: A switchback transport mechanism includes a first transport section, a second transport section, a third transport section, and a transport control section. The first transport section applies propelling force to a sheet in the guiding path. The second transport section applies propelling force to a sheet in the ejecting path. The third transport section has a first transport member and a second transport member placed so as to be attached to and detached from each other. The third transport section selectively applies propelling forces in a frontward direction and a backward direction to a sheet in the switchback transport path through the first and second transport members. The transport control section controls operations of the first, second, and third transport sections. The transport control section detaches the first and second transport members from each other in a time period when no sheet is being transported by the third transport section.

  • Patent number: 7548341
Abstract: An original is illuminated by a light source ? or a light source ?, and image data is obtained under these conditions. An absolute value of a difference between image data under these different conditions is compared to a threshold value, and it is judged whether or not a color-unmatch occurs. If the color-unmatch occurs, the color-unmatch is corrected in accordance with a plurality of image data read under different conditions.

  • Patent number: 7548226
Abstract: A liquid crystal display is driven at, for example, a frame frequency of 100 Hz or higher. There are provided a base-4 frame counter 2 and a source control signal generator section controlling the polarity of the liquid crystal in pixels so as to alternately repeat, for each frame, a horizontal reversal once every m lines (m is 2 or a greater positive integer) and a horizontal reversal once every m lines after shifting the polarity of the lines in the preceding frame by n lines (n is a positive integer equal to a half or less of m). The provision achieves a liquid crystal display and a method of driving the display, addresses insufficient charging at higher frame frequencies and accomplishing higher display quality.

  • Publication number: 20090145827
Abstract: A first treatment tank (1) to a fourth treatment tank are installed prior to ultrapure water production apparatus (5), dilute wastewater recovering apparatus (34), general service water recovering apparatus and wastewater treatment apparatus. The treatment tanks (1, 2, . . . ) each have a micro-nano bubble generation tank (6, 23, . . . ) and an anaerobic measuring tank (7, 24, . . . ). Accordingly, microbes within the respective anaerobic measuring tanks (7, 24, . . . ) are activated by micro-nano bubbles generated in each micro-nano bubble generation tank (6, 23, . . . ) to thereby enhance the treatment efficiency of low-concentration organic matter. Further, when the value measured by dissolved oxygen meter (13, 30, . . . ) or oxidation-reduction potentiometer (14, 31, . . . ) of each anaerobic measuring tank (7, 24, . . . ) exceeds an individually determined given range, the rotational speed of a circulating pump (9, 26, . . . ) is controlled to thereby decrease the generation of micro-nano bubbles.

  • Publication number: 20090148059
Abstract: With the use of a vector quantization technique, an index image, which is obtained by replacing an image on a block-by-block basis, each block consisting of a predetermined number of pixels, with any of a plurality of different pixel patterns and representing the pixel patterns by index values of the respective pixel patterns, is decoded by referring to a code book containing the pixel patterns and the index values of the pixel patterns in association with each other. When decoding an index image on the block-by-block basis into pixel patterns corresponding to the index values, the pixel pattern of each block is scaled, and additionally pixels near a contour in the pixel pattern after scaling are redrawn based on contour vector information corresponding to the pixel pattern.

  • Publication number: 20090147186
Abstract: A liquid crystal display of the present invention contains a first panel and a second panel being stacked. Adjacent pairs of polarizers (A to C) disposed on the panels form crossed Nicols. When the first panel produces a display according to a first display signal, the second panel produces a display according to a second display signal obtained from the first display signal. Each of the two joined panels is provided with a light diffusion layer having a light diffusing property. The provision of the light diffusion layers enables reducing moire pattern occurrences which would otherwise markedly increase when two liquid crystal panels are stacked. As a result, the liquid crystal display has high display quality.
