Abstract: An active element substrate and an opposed substrate sandwich a liquid crystal layer to constitute a liquid crystal display device. On the active element substrate, two signal lines respectively charge a pair of pixels that are adjacent to each other in a direction parallel to scanning lines. The two signal lines are provided intensively on a pixel electrode of one of the pair of pixels. In the direction parallel to the scanning lines, a pixel electrode on which signal lines are provided, and a pixel electrode on which signal lines are not provided, are arrayed alternately. This arrangement makes it possible to reduce, while ensuring a wide process margin, the fluctuation of the potential of a terminal to be connected to a pixel electrode (the fluctuation of the potential occurs during OFF-period of an active element due to capacitances respectively provided at superimposed portions of signal lines and a pixel electrode), to simplify the arrangement of signal lines, and to improve the aperture ratio.

Abstract: A first adhesive sheet is made to adhere to glass in plate form, and after that, the glass is cut with a blade so as to be separated into a number of glass pieces. A second adhesive sheet is made to adhere to the surfaces of glass pieces on the side opposite to the surface to which the first adhesive sheet is made to adhere. The first adhesive sheet is peeled from the glass pieces. The first adhesive sheet is peeled in the state where glass chips that have been created in the process for cutting the glass adhere to the first adhesive sheet, and therefore, most of the glass chips which adhere to the first adhesive sheet are removed with the respective glass pieces in the state of adhering to the second adhesive sheet not being scattered.

There is provided an image processing apparatus comprising an authentication section 67 which distinguishes a user; a particular-image judgment section 63 which detects particular images from inputted image data and judges whether or not the number of the particular images exceeds a threshold; and a threshold determination section 66 which determines a threshold according to the user and processing to be executed; and a control section 7 which restricts the processing to be executed when the number of the particular images exceeds the threshold. Depending on the importance degree of the security of the processing to be executed, the threshold determination section 66 lowers the threshold as the importance degree is higher and raises the threshold as the importance degree is lower.
Abstract: An LED terminal monitoring circuit detects an LED at the lowest potential among a plurality of parallel-connected LEDs. An analog signal selecting circuit gives a signal indicating the voltage of the detected LED to a boosting circuit. The boosting circuit performs a boosting operation on the basis of the condition of the detected LED at the lowest voltage and, consequently, a voltage sufficient for driving the LEDs in a current-control mode can be applied to all the LEDs. Signal lines not connected to LEDs are excluded from objects of a LED-switching control operation.

A laser light beam of the second wavelength which is polarized in the second polarizing direction is made to be diffracted in the direction toward the light emitting element by the second polarizing hologram diffraction grating.
Abstract: A receiving circuit stops a one shot timer from generating an output signal immediately after the output signal is outputted to an external entity until a predetermined stretch time elapses. With this arrangement, the receiving circuit will not generate a new output signal even if (i) noises generated by a voltage fluctuation of the output signal appear on an amplified signal immediately after the output signal is outputted (at the end of the output), and (ii) the value of the amplified signal exceeds a threshold value. Therefore, the receiving circuit can make sure that an unnecessary output signal will not be generated due to the noises.
Abstract: By controlling the temperature of a heating roller with high precision when in standby, good first-copy-out performance is obtained. In a fixing apparatus comprising a heating roller 1, a pressure roller 2, an induction coil 3a that generates magnetic flux, and a temperature detection member (such as a thermistor) 5 that detects the temperature of the heating roller 1, in which the heating roller 1 is caused to generated heat by generating an eddy current in a heat generating layer of the heating roller with magnetic flux generated by the induction coil 3a, the temperature of the heating roller 1 is controlled by disposing the temperature detection member 5 in a region where the maximum heat generating capacity of the heat generating portion of the heating roller 1 with induction heating is not less than 1/e, and thus an unusual rise in the temperature of the heating roller 1 is suppressed.
