Abstract: In a method for removing tin from a surface and/or from a region close to the surface of a component part, the component part has a concentrated aqueous sodium hydroxide or concentrated hydrochloric acid flowing in contact with it at a temperature which is distinctly higher than room temperature. Preferably, the temperature is approximately 220.degree. C., and the component part is moreover subjected to a positive pressure of 5.5 bar. The method is suitable for a component part fabricated through the use of unidirectional solidification and liquid-metal cooling, in particular a turbine blade.

Abstract: A method and a device for controlling a sensorless, field-oriented asynchronous machine, wherein a manipulated variable space vector and a stator frequency are calculated, by means of a two-component current control system, from which control signals are generated using a space vector modulation process. A PI controller of an EMF control system for the d-component of a calculated EMR space vector of the field-oriented control system is deactivated and its output signal set to zero at a stator frequency, determined as a function of a calculated d-component of a calculated EMF space vector and a calculated stator frequency, that is less than or equal to a first limit frequency. Thus, the method may be used for speed control of a sensorless, field-oriented asynchronous machine down to a full stop.
Abstract: An electric connector having at least one substantially striplike contact element includes a housing having a wall, a portion of the contact element extending from within the housing through the housing wall to the outside of the housing, and being formed thereat as a first flat contact extending along an outer side of the housing wall, the housing wall having, outside the housing, a recess formed therein and exposing at least parts of the contact element portion extending through the housing wall, the exposed contact element portion being formed at least partly as a second flat contact, and the recess being formed as a plug-in opening for a contact spring capable of contacting the second flat contact, the recess extending around the at least one contact element and having a portion thereof free of any contact element and formed so as to receive one of a pin and a strip of a counterconnector to be connected to the electric connector.
Abstract: A method and an apparatus control an internal combustion engine associated with a sensor for sensing a measured variable from which an estimated value of a torque loss of the internal combustion engine is derived. A measured value of the measured variable is determined at prescribed time intervals in each case. The measured values are corrected in such a way that a drop in the corrected measured values within a prescribed time interval is limited to a prescribed drop value.

Abstract: A mobile nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus has a shielding arrangement having at least one primary shielding coil and at least one auxiliary shielding coil that is activated at least during transport of the nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus. This allows shielding of the stray field during transport in a simple way while still allowing qualitatively good exposures to be produced.
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for enhancing telephony trunk routing includes a call requirements assessor which identifies call requirements associated with a call request. In particular, the call requirements assessor recognizes call requests which are indicative of speaker-phone calls and conference calls. A comparison processor responds to call data received from the call requirements assessor bad comparing the call requirements of a particular call with the quality of service capabilities of an Internet telephony trunk and a non-Internet telephony trunk. A call request which includes a request for a speaker-phone call or a conference call triggers the comparison processor to instruct a call router to route a call via the non-Internet telephony trunk.

Abstract: A method and system for integrating occasional user-initiated data transfers with a generally continuous video transmission in a multimedia communications session includes enabling a party of the session to select at least two levels of video quality of service for the session. A first level is selected for time segments in which the user-initiated data transfers are active. A second level of video QoS is selected for time segments having user-initiated data transfers. Connectivity for the session is established based upon the first level. However, upon initiation of a data transfer, the video transmission requirements are switched to requirements based upon the second level of video quality of service. Present-time quality of service is monitored to determine whether the data transfer should be regulated so as to ensure that the present-time video quality of service remains at or above the second selected level.

Abstract: In addition to triangulation methods, measurement systems according to the confocal principle are employed for the three-dimensional sensing of surfaces. These measurement systems have a higher resolution but, under certain circumstances, a lower data rate. An optical proximity sensor is described which, on the basis of the confocal microscope, carries out automatic inspection of surfaces in a time which is acceptable for a fabrication process. A linear system of corresponding light sources and photo receivers is used instead of a scanning beam, which requires a high outlay for generation. The optical path length between the receiving unit and the optical imaging arrangement is varied for the resolution of height values, wherein a light intensity maximum is detected by a peak detector.

Abstract: The method and arrangement is for controlling a radio receiver. The arrangement has a central processor (DECT-C), a device (RSSI-C) for measuring the field strength of received signals, a threshold value generator (TH-C) and two antennas (A1, A2). The central processor (DECT-C) carries out method steps configured in such a way that different procedures (P1, P2) are realized to activate one of a plurality of antennas (A1, A2) of the radio receiver as a function of measured field strength values (RSSI1) of received signals and as a function of overshooting or undershooting of a threshold value (TH0).

Abstract: An integrated circuit arrangement having at least two components has in a substrate, an insulation structure (4', 5) between the components which covers at least one side of a trench (3) and is thicker at the bottom of the trench than at the neck of the trench. The components are in this case arranged in different planes on the substrate surface and on the trench bottom. The insulation structure effects vertical insulation between the components.

Abstract: In a power amplifier having multiple, switched output stages and a driver, and method for driving the switched output stages, a number of drive signal groups are generated for respectively driving the switched output stages. A number of pattern signal groups are generated dependent on at least one input signal, and drive signal groups are generated from the pattern signal groups, with each pattern signal group being allocated respectively to one of the switched output stages, and this allocation is changed in segments. A good load balancing between the individual switched output stages is achieved with a low circuit-oriented outlay.

The steam delivery assembly has a steam line terminating at a steam outlet proximate to said fuel line and upstream of said pilot nozzle for directing steam to the pilot nozzle. An aspect of the invention has a steam throttle valve for adjusting the steam flow to the pilot nozzle based on the combustion system's NO.sub.X emissions and/or characteristics of said pilot fuel stream.

Abstract: A medical system e.g. for diagnosing and/or treating a patient has a system controller for controlling the system-specific components. The controller works together with an input device and is additionally assigned a data storage unit in which it is possible to store at least one operating menu. The operating menu can be called up by means of the input device and can be displayed on an indicating or display device. The operating menu includes a plurality of operating functions which can be selected, e.g., by means of a movable marker. When an operating function is selected its associated executable function is executed under control of the system controller. The system is further provided with the functionality of allowing a user to freely select specific operating functions from among the totality of operating functions assigned to the one or more operating menus and store the selected functions in the data storage device grouped as a separate, independent operating menu.
Abstract: A method is provided for monitoring channels and controlling calls. Multiple channels provided by at least one digital line are monitored. Based on this monitoring, the present invention determines when all of the multiple channels are occupied. At least one of an incoming call and an established call is given priority when all of the multiple channels are busy. The priority is based on predetermined inputs from a user. The call with priority is provided on one of the multiple channels. The present invention then determines when one or more of the multiple channels are available. When one of the multiple channels becomes available, the action based on the call priority is automatically disabled.
