Abstract: A method for adjusting the tension of a drive belt wherein a tensioning device is pretensioned, e.g., after manufacturing at the plant, with a force corresponding to the force desired for subsequent operation. At this position, calibration markings are formed which can be checked during subsequent adjustments. After being mounted, the drive belt is tensioned until the markings line up.

Abstract: A tensioning device for drive belts includes a pin pivotable about an axis and having an eccentric surface on which a cam is pivotally mounted. A roller adapted to engage a belt is rotatably mounted on the cam. The cam pivots in reaction to forces on a spring acting between the cam and pin. The spring may be preloaded to a specific operating point by rotation of the pin. Markings or projections acting as stops facilitate adjustment of the preloading of the spring.

Abstract: Spacer rings of a form-memory alloy, alternatively known as memory metals, are used in the form-locking or fastening of bearings on shafts and in housings. Radial or axial expansion when the critical A.sub.S temperature of the alloy is exceeded results in firm clamping in the direction concerned. The use of alloys with a one-way characteristic allows the bearing, after heating, to remain in operable condition at all operating temperatures.
Abstract: Means for securing a hardened roller bearing ring by means of a press fit on the softer bearing seating surface of a machine part in a predetermined axial position, comprising means defining at least one peripheral groove (6, 7, 8, 9), which has a sharp-edged transition to the surface of the roller bearing ring (2, 4) in the surface of the rolling bearing ring (2, 4) co-existing with the seating surface of the machine part.

Abstract: A roller bearing cage is made of a bent strip of sheet metal having abutting ends that are connected to one another, the cage being comprised of two end rings and a cage frame surrounding the windows, the windows retaining and guiding the rollers. In order to permit the manufacture of rolling element bearing cages of different reference circle diameters while using only one tool for rolling elements with a specific diameter d, the center distance between adjacent the cage windows in the circumferential direction is .pi.d/2.

Abstract: A chain wheel for conveyor installations with chain conveyor belts, and which chain wheel is mounted on the drive shaft (5) of the driving device for the conveyor belt. The chain wheel is designed in such a manner that it can be easily repaired and altered as to number of teeth, design of hub and number of tooth rims. It incorporates as a basic unit a pair of hub portions (1, 2) detachably connected against each other, between which, as a separate unit is clamped a tooth rim (3) comprising at least two sections 3a, 3b).
Abstract: Attachment means for mounting a first annular member such as a bearing ring having a first seating surface to a second member, such as a housing. The bearing ring has a plurality of recesses formed therein and is made of a material having a predetermined hardness. The housing has a second seating surface and a contact surface disposed angularly to the second seating surface and a fillet surface defining at least one narrow intermediate space at the juncture of the said second seating surface and contact surface. The recesses in said first seating surface open toward the internal end surface and open out into the intermediate spaces, whereas, at the end facing away from this end surface, the recesses are closed off by a boundary wall. By this arrangement, during assembly of the bearing ring in the bore of the housing or to a journal material from the housing or journal is removed to fill the recesses and thereby lock the bearing ring in place.
Abstract: A bearing bushing incorporating a sleeve (1) of magnetizable material forming the sliding surface of the bearing, a shaft (2) mounted in said sleeve (1) and a lubricant in the form of a magnetic fluid (3) between the sliding surface of the sleeve (1) and the shaft (2), whereby the sleeve (1) is magnetized in axial direction. For causing a hydrodynamic lubrication and an increased cooling effect the sleeve (1) on the inner side has axial channels (7) and axial recesses (9) on the outer side thus that the magnetic fluid (3) by the axial magnetic field around the sleeve (1), can be given a circulating motion along the inner and outer side of the sleeve.
Abstract: In a screw and nut driving device with low internal friction, e.g. a ball nut mechanism, irreversibility is effected in a simple and efficient manner when the nut is rotatably driven and enclosed by an annular space in which a helical spring is arranged in such a manner that its ends are acted upon by the driving force from the external driving source, thus that the spring can rotate freely in the space. When the external driving source is disconnected and the nut, due to axial load is subjected to a torque, the ends of the spring are acted upon thus that the spring is deformed to friction locking against a non-rotating surface, whereby the nut is prevented from rotation.
Abstract: A sliding bearing which is mounted on a shaft (2) and is composed by a magnetized material, whereby between the sliding bearing (1) and a surrounding bearing housing (5) is provided a magnetic fluid as lubricating and sealing agent. The sliding bearing (1) has sliding shoes (3) adapted at rotation of the shaft (2) to cause a compression of the fluid volume and to urge fluid to pass out under the sliding shoes at the same time as the hydrostatic pressure increases in the spaces (4) between the sliding shoes (3).
Abstract: Bearing for holding a rotating shaft or similar device, including a housing in which the elements supporting the shaft are contained and which at one end an opening has been made which can be brought into contact with a system for supplying a lubricant in the form of a grease, and which terminates inside the housing in a space on one side of the supporting elements and in which, at the other end, a second opening closed by a removable closure has been made which terminates inside the housing in a second space located on the other side of the supporting elements in which the grease flowing through said supporting elements can be captured, characterized by the fact that the removable closure of the aforementioned second opening (12) is formed by a tubular device (13) closed at one end which projects into the second space, and that at least the part projecting inside this space is equipped with a number of openings (14) in a wall of said tubular device (13).

For causing a hydrodynamic lubrication and an increased cooling effect the sleeve (1) has a number of radial holes (4) through which the magnetic fluid (3) may pass to the other side of the sleeve (1), and which, by the axial magnetic field about the sleeve (1), is given a circulating motion along the inner and outer side of the sleeve.
Abstract: A cage for the rollers in a roller bearing has two annular portions (11, 12) and intermediate bars (13). A protrusion (16) is provided on the side surface (15) of the one annular members (11) in connection to each cage pocket (14) for insertion into a recess in the adjacent roller end so as to retain the roller (10) in the cage pocket (14).
Abstract: Pulley for driving the shaft of a water pump, especially a pump for the cooling system of an internal combustion engine, the shaft being designed to be integral with a pulley body carrying the rim of the pulley, characterized in that the rim (15, 25, 31, 37) is designed as a sleeve and is attached to the pulley body (13, 22, 29, 39) in a form-locking or friction-locking manner.

Abstract: In a bearing arrangement for a rotary drum, the ends of two cradles are attached to load-carrying rollers which rotate freely over a surface area of a race of the rotary drum. The cradles run in self-aligning bearings in a load-bearing structure via intermediate cradles. Each load-carrying roller runs in bearings at the end of its respective cradle, in a manner which avoids slanting and which is free of axial clearance. Each cradle runs in rocker bearing located between its two load-carrying rollers, without bearing clearance at the end of an intermediate cradle. One of the intermediate cradles runs in a journal bearing with an axial clearance equal to or larger than the axial dislocation of the load-carrying rollers in the load bearing structure when the rotary drum is in operation.
Abstract: In a roller bearing cage which holds the set of rollers in the raceway of aninner ring to form a structural unit, the lateral rings are interrupted by slots. Webs extend between the lateral rings. In this way, the cage gives way radially, which makes it possible to push the rollers over one of the flanges of the inner ring to assemble the bearing. To stabilize the cage during operation, projections are provided on the webs, which, as needed, contact the raceway of the outer ring and secure the radial position of the webs.
