  • Patent number: 5056591
Abstract: A method is provided of conducting a thermochemical absorption or desorption reaction between a gas and a solid in the presence of a heat-carrying fluid in a closed enclosure. This method comprises a first step in which, for the pressure prevailing in the reactor, the variation of the mean power of the reaction is determined as a function of the difference which exists between the temperature of the heat-carrying fluid and the equilibrium temperature of the reaction, given by the Clapeyron diagram, for defining an optimum zone in which the reaction takes place with maximum mean power, and a second step in which the reaction takes place, in which a reference temperature is imposed on the heat-carrying fluid such that the reaction takes place in the optimum zone.

  • Patent number: 5043465
Abstract: New organic phosphorus compounds, comprised of hetero-phosphacycloalkanes whose phosphorus atom forms a complex with a borane. They can be prepared by the action of a borane on a hetero-phosphacycloalkane, within a solvent, at temperatures ranging from -20.degree. to +60.degree. C. Their transformation into other derivatives, phosphinites or phosphines in particular, can be carried out without any modification in the chirality of the initial complex. An especially useful application is their conversion into highly optically active phosphines, used in particular as catalysts in various reactions.

  • Patent number: 5040895
Abstract: Process and interferometric device for detecting and measuring the concentration, in a single operation, of all gases, having almost periodic absorption structures, contained in a gaseous mixture, each of the gases being associated with a characteristic path difference. Luminous flux is analyzed after passage through a cell containing the mixture, using to a multiple-wave interferometer, for example, a Fabry-Perrot interferometer, in which the inside faces of plates therein are highly reflective, and one of which plates is displaceable at a constant speed, it thus being possible to sweep a very wide range of path difference. Analysis of the output signal is performed frequency band by frequency band, by seeking the maximum.

  • Patent number: 5032026
Abstract: Pressure and temperature are sensed with first and second interferometers having beam paths originating at an optical fiber located at a collimating lens focal point. One interferometer includes a deformable membrane having a deformation responsive to the sensed pressure and temperature which cause the membrane position to vary with respect to a face of a glass plate. In the second interferometer the optical path length varies as a function of the sensed temperature. The collimating lens collects optical beams derived from the first and second interferometers and supplies them to the optical fibre. In one embodiment, the interferometers are coaxial and in parallel; in a second embodiment the interferometers are in series.
