  • Patent number: 9013742
Abstract: A destination-to-save-data specifying system includes a computer and an image forming apparatus. In the computer, when a user interface section accepts an operator's destination-to-save-data specifying command for a folder on the computer, an accompanying information management section acquires accompanying information, including a path name, from the folder and allows a communication section to transmit the acquired accompanying information to the image forming apparatus. In the image forming apparatus, a destination-to-save-data specifying section uses the accompanying information received by the accompanying information receiving section to specify the folder identified by the accompanying information as a destination to save data output from the image forming apparatus.

  • Patent number: 9010597
Abstract: A device and method is presented that attaches a tablet computer to a vehicle headrest. A two-piece mount has a headrest coupling and a tablet housing. The tablet housing has a rigid core attached to a flexible rim portion that secures the tablet computer within the tablet housing. The rigid core has a circular cavity in the rear. The headrest coupling mounts to headrest posts in a vehicle using hinged arms and locking clips. The headrest coupling further has a circular attachment disk that fits within the circular cavity of the tablet housing. Retractable tabs in the circumference of the attachment disk fit within tracks in the walls of the circular cavity. The tabs prevent accidental separation of the tablet housing from the headrest coupling, and allow rotation of the tablet housing when attached to the headrest coupling.

  • Publication number: 20150102908
Abstract: Retail items movable from an inventory location at a retail venue through a portal to a retail exit are automatically tracked. The items are individually associated with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags. An RFID tag reader has an array of antennas for generating a multitude of scan beams at an adjustable scan rate. A first set of the beams covers the inventory location, and a second set of the beams covers the portal to determine an exit characteristic of the items that have exited the retail venue. A point-of-sale workstation at the retail venue is operative, independently of the tag reader, for determining a sold characteristic of the items that have been sold. A controller dynamically adjusts the scan rate of the first and second sets of scan beams to an optimal scan rate as a function of the determined exit and sold characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20150104356
Abstract: A system and method for removing organic carboxylates from a mono ethylene glycol (“MEG”) stream includes a reaction vessel; means for cooling and diluting the MEG stream being routed to the reaction vessel; means for acidifying the cooled and diluted MEG stream during its residence time within the reaction vessel; and means for removing an acetic-rich overhead stream from the reaction vessel. The acidification of the cooled and diluted MEG stream occurs under a vacuum. The reaction vessel may be located downstream of a calcium removal vessel and receive a filtered bottom stream from that vessel, or it may be a single reaction vessel that cycles between a calcium removal mode and an acetate removal mode, with the pressure of the single vessel being greater during the calcium removal mode than during the acetate removal mode.

  • Publication number: 20150105117
Abstract: An adaptor that includes a male connector, a control circuit, and a wireless transceiver coupleable to a corresponding female connector on a portable electronic device provides push-to-talk functionality on the portable electronic device. In conjunction with the device operating system, the adaptor converts a first incoming signal to a first number of low impedance/high impedance pulses detectable by the portable electronic device to initiate a push-to-talk session. During the push-to-talk session, the adaptor transceiver wirelessly transmits and receives communication signals (e.g., audio signals) to and from an accessory device communicably coupled to the adapter. In conjunction with the device operating system, the adaptor converts a second incoming signal to a second number of low impedance/high impedance pulses detectable by the portable electronic device to terminate the push-to-talk session.

  • Publication number: 20150106116
Abstract: Disparate (heterogeneous) clinical data recording devices are assimilated into a unified clinical system that is able to function regardless of the disparate data protocols of the recording devices. The unified system is realized in some embodiments by cascading a consistent set of audits generated by the recording devices through downstream clinical components, which audits provide a permanent and indelible record. The cascaded audits may also serve as a means of instruction between the disparate components of a unified clinical system.

  • Publication number: 20150104207
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a charging member, a charging bias power source, a developing member, a developing bias power source and a controlling device. The charging member electrically charged an image carrier. The charging bias power source applies a DC charging bias to the charging member. The developing member develops a toner image onto the image carrier. The developing bias power source applies an AC and DC developing bias to the developing member. The controlling device carries out, before image forming process, pre-charging control controlling the charging bias power source to electrically charge the image carrier. The controlling device carries out, after the image forming process is started, post-charging control controlling the charging bias power source and developing bias power source to adjust an electrical potential difference between a surface potential of the image carrier and developing bias to a significant electrical potential difference preventing occurrence of image failure.
