Abstract: A cognitive load assistance method includes: providing a virtual environment comprising a route to complete a current task, and providing within the virtual environment one or more interactive elements not essential to the current task that may be encountered during normal performance of the current task, receiving an indication that cognitive load assistance is required, and reducing the interactivity of at least a first interactive element not essential to the current task in response to the indication.

The image is generated for display on a display unit. A rate at which the image is generated is at a first frequency, which is lower than a second frequency corresponding to a frame rate of the display unit.

Abstract: Techniques are described for training neural networks on variable length datasets. The numeric representation of the length of each training sample is randomly perturbed to yield a pseudo-length, and the samples sorted by pseudo-length to achieve lower zero padding rate (ZPR) than completely randomized batching (thus saving computation time) yet higher randomness than strictly sorted batching (thus achieving better model performance than strictly sorted batching).

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for integrating media cues into virtual reality scenes presented on a head mounted display (HMD) is disclosed. The method includes presenting a virtual reality scene on a display of an HMD. The method further includes receiving sensor data from one or more sensors in a real-world space in which the HMD is located. Then, identifying an object location of an object in the real-world space that produces a sound. The method includes generating a media cue in the virtual reality scene presented in the HMD. The media cue is presented in a virtual location that is correlated to the object location of the object in the real-world space.

Abstract: A technique iteratively fits a rasterization distortion function to a distortion property of a display such as a head-mounted display (HMD). The technique also features reconstructing a distortion function from a rendered image with unknown distortion property.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for providing real world assistance by a robot utility and interface device (RUID) are provided. A method provides for identifying a position of a user in a physical environment and a surface within the physical environment for projecting an interactive interface. The method also provides for moving to a location within the physical environment based on the position of the user and the surface for projecting the interactive interface. Moreover, the method provides for capturing a plurality of images of the interactive interface while the interactive interface is being interacted with by the use and for determining a selection of an input option made by the user.

Profile information for the application or media file is determined. Such profile information includes information regarding consumption of bandwidth throughout a time period of usage of the application or media file. The profile may be stored in memory in association with the application or media file. A request is received from a user device regarding access to the application or media file. Access to the requested application or media is provided to the user device; the profile is also provided to the user device for use in evaluating whether bandwidth requirements of the application or media file exceeds an available network bandwidth of a network of the user device.

Abstract: In methods and apparatuses for reducing latency in graphics processing inputs are received and a first set of frames is generated and stored. Once all of the frames in the first set of frames have been produced, they may be delivered to a GPU thread. Each frame is then rendered by the GPU. Starting processing of frames after one or more of the frames have been stored increases a likelihood that the GPU thread will produce rendered frames without stalling. Abstract: A control device generates a first image in which, together with an object in the real world appearing in an image captured by a camera of a robot, a virtual object appears and which presents an exterior appearance of the virtual object while the position of the camera of the robot is set as a view-point. An HMD displays the first image generated by the control device. In a case in which the position of the HMD in the height direction changes, the control device generates a second image from which the object in the real world is deleted and which presents the exterior appearance of the virtual object viewed from a new view-point according to the change in the position of the HMD in the height direction. The HMD displays the second image in place of the first image.
