  • Publication number: 20130214816
Abstract: A multi-valued logic (MVL) circuit includes a MVL clock generator that generates a MVL clock signal having three or more ith MVL levels, a single MVL clock signal distribution network connected to the MVL clock generator, and three or more ith MVL selection circuits connected to the single MVL clock signal distribution network where i=0 to N and N>=3. Each ith MVL selection circuit corresponds to a specified ith MVL level. The ith MVL selection circuit outputs an ith binary clock signal having: (a) a first logic level whenever the MVL clock signal is equal to the ith MVL level and the ith data input receives the first logic level, (b) a second logic level whenever the MVL clock signal is equal to the ith MVL level and the ith data input receives the second logic level, and (c) a previous logic level of the ith binary clock signal whenever the MVL clock signal is not equal to the ith MVL level.

  • Patent number: 8374854
Abstract: The present invention describes a speech enhancement method using microphone arrays and a new iterative technique for enhancing noisy speech signals under low signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) environments. A first embodiment involves the processing of the observed noisy speech both in the spatial- and the temporal-domains to enhance the desired signal component speech and an iterative technique to compute the generalized eigenvectors of the multichannel data derived from the microphone array. The entire processing is done on the spatio-temporal correlation coefficient sequence of the observed data in order to avoid large matrix-vector multiplications. A further embodiment relates to a speech enhancement system that is composed of two stages. In the first stage, the noise component of the observed signal is whitened, and in the second stage a spatio-temporal power method is used to extract the most dominant speech component.

  • Publication number: 20120098750
Abstract: The present invention provides a device and method for classifying a user using pattern recognition of an input device. A series of the keystroke objects are received via the user input interface. A typing signature is determined for the series of keystroke objects using the processor by analyzing the key attributes of the series of keystroke objects using a pattern recognition algorithm. The typing signature is compared to one or more user typing signatures stored in the memory using the processor. The user is classified based on whether or not the typing signature is statistically similar to one of the stored typing signatures.

  • Publication number: 20110277540
Abstract: A novel micro-optical electric field sensor exploits morphology-dependent shifts of the optical modes of dielectric cavities to measure temporally- and spatially-resolved of electric field with extremely high sensitivity. The measurement principle is based on the electrostriction effect on the optical modes of dielectric micro-resonators (or micro-cavities) and exploits recent developments in optical fiber and switching technologies. The optical modes are commonly referred to as “whispering gallery modes” (WGM) or “morphology dependent resonances” (MDR). By monitoring the WGM shifts, the electric field causing the electrostriction effect can be determined. Different sensitivities and measurement ranges (maximum measured electric field) can be obtained by using different cavity geometries (for example solid or hollow spheres), polymeric materials (PMMA, PDMS, etc) as well as poling the dielectric material.

  • Patent number: 8060550
Abstract: Transforming an integer comprises receiving the integer, where the integer can be expressed as a modular factorization. The modular factorization comprises one or more factors, where each factor has an exponent. The integer is expressed as a product of residues. A discrete logarithm of the integer is established from a sum corresponding to the product of residues. A value for an exponent of a factor is determined from the discrete logarithm. The integer is represented as the modular factorization comprising the one or more factors, where each factor has a value for the exponent.

  • Patent number: 7949492
Abstract: Measuring mechanical propulsive power includes establishing a first power and a second power. The first power is associated with a first rate of energy conversion by a device in a fluid, where the device is in the wake of a self-propelled conveyance moving with respect to the fluid. The average distance between the device and self-propelled conveyance may remain substantially unchanged. The second power is associated with a second rate of energy conversion by the device in the fluid without the self-propelled conveyance, where the other physical factors are substantially similar to that associated with the first power. The difference between the first power and the second power is calculated. The mechanical propulsive power for the self-propelled conveyance is determined using mappings, where a mapping associates the difference with the mechanical propulsive power.

  • Publication number: 20100274503
Abstract: An apparatus and method to determine fractions of various phases in a multiphase fluid. The apparatus includes main body including an interior configured receive a multiphase fluid and an exterior. The apparatus senses fluid pressure of multiphase fluid received in the interior and senses a fluid temperature of the multiphase fluid. The apparatus transmits an ultrasonic wave into the fluid and detects the transmitted wave to determine its velocity and attenuation. The apparatus may adjust the determined velocity and attenuation based on the temperature and pressure of the fluid to compensate for a difference between the sensed temperature and pressure and a standard temperature and pressure. The apparatus determines a gas fraction, water fraction, and a non-water fluid fraction of the multiphase fluid based on the sensed fluid pressure, the sensed fluid temperature, and the velocity and attenuation of the ultrasonic wave in the multiphase fluid.
