Abstract: A piping corrosion monitoring system is disclosed which is implemented by software run on a personal computer or the equivalent. The system generates inspection dates for individual piping and other elements, such as pressure vessels, in a process plant. The process plant is divided into circuits made up of piping and associated vessels expected to be exposed to a common corrosion environment. Corrosion data for individual inspection points within each circuit is used to estimate likely corrosion rates for other elements of the particular circuit. The estimated corrosion rates are used to calculate inspection dates for elements within the circuits. Also factored into the inspection date are the risk factors such as the toxicity of the substance being carried, the proximity of the circuit to valuable property or to control rooms, laboratories, or the like, and other factors relating to the security assigned to the circuit.

The converter apparatus includes a microprocessor, a low pass filter portion for converting a digital output signal from the microprocessor to an analog output signal, and an analog to digital converter portion for sampling and converting the analog output signal to provide a digital input to the microprocessor, permitting control of the analog output signal.
Abstract: A combined snow plow/winch device is provided which includes a mouldboard for plowing snow and a winch for moving loads, both simultaneously mounted to a front of a vehicle. The mouldboard is pivotally mounted to the vehicle for limited movement about a horizontal axis against a biasing member. The winch includes a cable receiving drum, a cable wound about the drum by rotation of the drum, and drive structure for rotating the drum. The winch is mounted to the vehicle above the horizontal rotation axis of the mouldboard. A fairlead is affixed to the mouldboard above and forward of the horizontal rotation axis. During operation of the winch to move objects, the winch cable passes through the fairlead and exerts a force on the mouldboard such that the mouldboard pivots forward against the biasing member, allowing the cable to be straightened between the drum and the object to be moved.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of making a tri- or tetrahydrocarbylammonium hexahydroxyantimonate,[R.sub.3 R'N]Sb(OH).sub.6 .multidot.xH.sub.2 O (1)containing 3 to 30 C atoms, which process comprises the steps of (1) contacting a compound selected fromR.sub.3 N and R.sub.4 NOHwith the H.sup.+ form of a solid cation exchange resin, and allowing the amine or the tetrahydrocarbylammonium hydroxide to react with the cation exchange resin, and thereafter (2) contacting the reacted resin with an aqueous solution of KSb(OH).sub.6,wherein each R contains 1-10 C atoms and is independently selected from alkyl, aralkyl and alkylaralkyl, R' is H or H, and wherein x is an indeterminate number of moles of H.sub.2 O.

Abstract: A diverter valve assembly for a sanitary fitting having a spindle, which operates the diverter valve and includes a shiftable valve cone which selectively diverts water to the various outlet points, is disclosed.
Abstract: A fast response temperature probe, and method of manufacture, for use in the refrigerant line of a refrigeration system comprising: a temperature sensitive element; means for operably connecting the temperature sensitive element to a control line of a refrigeration system controller; an inner housing supporting the temperature sensitive element at a first end and enclosing the operable connection means; and an outer housing surrounding the temperature sensitive element and the inner housing, the outer housing including at least one aperture located in proximity to the temperature sensitive element.
Abstract: An adjustable support arrangement for suspending an air brake hose from the coupler of a railway vehicle including an elongated rubber bungee and a pair of spring wire clip connectors. The rubber bunges includes a resilient circular cross-section intermediate portion and two rectangular cross-section end portions, each having a plurality of axially spaced elongated through holes. Each of the pair of spring wire clip connectors including a hook portion, which is threaded through a selected one of the elongated holes formed in the respective ends of the rubber bungee, and including a thumb-engaging loop portion for opening and closing the spring wire clip connectors and for being interlocked with the hook portion when excessive deformation occurs to either of the spring wire clip connectors.
Abstract: A localization needle assembly includes an outer tubular cannula and a reinforced needle structure slidably mounted for movement within the outer cannula between extended and retracted portions, the needle structure defining a rearwardly extending barb which is contained within the outer cannula when the inner needle is extended while the surgeon locates a lesion. When the inner needle is retracted, the barb is deployed through an opening in the sidewall of the outer cannula for anchoring the localization needle assembly in body tissue in the proximity of the lesion.
Abstract: An iron based filler wire is described for use in gas shielded arc welding and includes between about 0.05 to 0.09 weight percent carbon, 1.10 to 1.40 weight percent manganese, 0.70 to 1.00 weight percent silicon, 0.00 to 0.025 weight percent phosphorus, 0.00 to 0.225 weight percent sulfur and 0.0 to 0.3 weight percent copper. The obtained weldment produced in CO.sub.2 shielding gas possesses an average Charpy V-notch impact value of at least 45 ft.-lbs. at -20.degree. F.
Abstract: An energy storage wheel spin propulsion control system for detecting and correcting a spinning wheel situation so that the maximum available adhesion is utilized to the fullest extent in accelerating a railway vehicle while at the same time maximizing the use of the available processing time to permit an appropriate amount of time for diagnostic purposes. The primary data used to form the logic inputs is derived from the axle rate signals which are fed to spin energy storage value threshold and difference comparison sensors. The spin energy storage value and difference comparison sensors supply logical inputs in spin energy threshold, dissipation threshold and optimization threshold sensors and spin rate difference sum sensor, respectively, which, in turn, supply logic inputs to spin enable timer and spin enable sensors and a spin control logic output sensor.
Abstract: An electrically actuated valve for incremental fluid flow rate control is disclosed. The valve is comprised of a valve body having an interior with a planar outlet surface against which a rectilinear valve element is slidingly operated. The valve body includes an inlet orifice and an outlet orifice in the planar outlet surface for fluid flow through the valve body. The valve element has an orifice therethrough controlling flow through the outlet orifice in accordance with the position of the valve element, which is linearly actuated by a rotary stepper motor. Linear actuation of the valve element by the rotary stepper motor is accomplished by a shaft extending through and rotating in bearings at opposing ends of the valve body. A drive key on the shaft interfits a corresponding slot in the valve element and converts rotary motion of the shaft to linear motion of the valve element.
