  • Patent number: 12103981
Abstract: Increasingly, human subjects are taking biotin as a medical therapy or nutritional supplement. This practice causes difficulty in analysis of biological samples, such as blood samples, using biotin conjugate reagents since free biotin results in interference. Inventive antibodies, and antigen binding fragments thereof, which specifically bind to biotin of a biotin conjugate and which have a higher affinity for biotin of a biotin conjugate than for free biotin, are provided along with methods of their use.

  • Publication number: 20240316501
Abstract: The disclosure relates to enhancing alkalinity of brine, e.g. seawater, using bipolar membrane electrodialysis (BPMED) without removing divalent cations that otherwise cause scaling. In one embodiment, a BPMED is employed wherein the brine volumetric flow rate through a basification compartment is greater at a given current density than that through a brine compartment which increases the pH of the brine output while keeping it below the precipitation pH. In one embodiment, the spacer located in the basification compartment is thicker than spacers elsewhere in the BPMED so as resist membrane distortion due to the increased hydrostatic pressure in the basification compartment given the greater volumetric flow. The brine output having increased alkalinity can be returned to the ocean to mitigate acidification and enable capture of atmospheric carbon dioxide.

  • Patent number: 12098475
Abstract: The disclosure relates to large area single crystal diamond (SCD) surfaces and substrates, and their methods of formation. Typical large area substrates can be at least about 25 mm, 50 mm, or 100 mm in diameter or square edge length, and suitable thicknesses can be about 100 ?m to 1000 ?m. The large area substrates have a high degree of crystallographic alignment. The large area substrates can be used in a variety of electronics and/or optics applications. Methods of forming the large area substrates generally include lateral and vertical growth of SCD on spaced apart and crystallographically aligned SCD seed substrates, with the individual SCD growth layers eventually merging to form a composite SCD layer of high quality and high crystallographic alignment. A diamond substrate holder can be used to crystallographically align the SCD seed substrates and reduce the effect of thermal stress on the formed SCD layers.

  • Patent number: 12097500
Abstract: A sensor for detecting a target analyte in a sample includes a pair of conducting electrodes that are separated by a gap. An insulator is disposed in the gap between the electrodes. Plural wells are defined by one of the electrodes and the insulator, to expose the other of the electrodes. The wells are configured to receive a sample including a target analyte. The target analyte, when present in the sample received in the wells, modulates an impedance between the electrodes. The modulated impedance, which is measurable with an applied electrical voltage, is indicative of the concentration of the target analyte in the sample. The wells can include antibodies immobilized inside the wells, to bind the target analyte, which can be a cytokine. Also provided are a method for label-free sensing of a target analyte in a sample, and a transcutaneous impedance sensor for label-free, in-situ biomarker detection.

  • Publication number: 20240311230
Abstract: A mapping approach (“PathSeeker”) for CGRAs analyzes mapping failures and performs local adjustments to a schedule to obtain a mapping. First, instead of backtracking or restarting the mapping as in previous mapping methods, PathSeeker analyzes the predecessor and successor nodes to find the reason behind the failed mapping. Second, PathSeeker explores local transformations for the predecessor and successor of the failed node to achieve a valid mapping. Finally, when local transformations do not yield a valid mapping, different PE positions of the other nodes in the time-slot of the failed node, the predecessor, and successor are iteratively explored, to find a valid mapping.
