  • Patent number: 10049244
Abstract: Multiple sensing network units are deployed overhead in a venue. Each unit supports a motion detecting system for detecting a level of motion in a zone of the venue, and an RFID locationing system for reading RFID tags in the venue, in response to the motion level detected by the motion detecting system. The performance of the RFID locationing system is adjusted and optimized in response to the detected motion level.

  • Patent number: 10037608
Abstract: An array of light sensors arranged along mutually orthogonal sensor rows and sensor columns is exposed to return light from a target over successive frames. The array is subdivided into mutually orthogonal zones, each having a sub-plurality of sensor rows and sensor columns. Each row of zones is scanned multiple times to produce output light intensity values, which are averaged to obtain an average zonal value for each zone for each frame. The average zonal value over the successive frames is simultaneously averaged with slow and fast response characteristics to obtain respective slow and fast response values for each zone, which are then compared to obtain a difference value for each zone. Motion of the target in any region of a venue is indicated when the difference value between the fast and slow response values in a corresponding zone exceeds a threshold value.

  • Patent number: 10032120
Abstract: A communication system for workforce management is formed of a system controller managing a plurality of badges associated with workplace devices and employees within the workplace. The controller receives event indicators from the badges. These event indicators are analyzed by the controller to determine whether a task should be created and performed by at least one of the workplace devices and/or at least one of the employees. Task lists and device assignments are dynamically updated in response to current workplace conditions.

  • Patent number: 10025962
Abstract: In an embodiment, a pair of overhead mirror portions splits a field of view of an imager into first and second subfields of view. An illuminating assembly is energized to illuminate a target. A first part of the imager is exposed to capture return illumination light from the target passing through a horizontal window of a workstation over the first subfield of view, and a second part of the imager is exposed to capture return illumination light from the target passing through the horizontal window over the second subfield of view.

  • Patent number: 10025963
Abstract: A printed code associated with a product is illuminated with light having a first lighting characteristic, and is readable in a default mode of an imaging reader. An electronic code displayed on a mobile communication device is readable in another mode of the reader, with a different second lighting characteristic that is designed to minimize specular reflection from a screen of the device. When the presence of the device in close proximity to the reader is detected, the reader is automatically configured to switch from the default mode to the other mode to enable the electronic code to be read.

  • Patent number: 10025961
Abstract: Accuracy of data collection for items located in a venue is enhanced by moving a mobile data capture device in the venue toward the items, by capturing information data from each item in a reading state of operation of the mobile device, by determining device position data of the mobile device in the venue at a variable level of locationing system performance, by determining item position data of each item in the venue based on the determined device position data of the mobile device, and by modifying the reading state of operation of the mobile device when the variable level is below a reference threshold level of locationing system performance.

  • Patent number: 9990673
Abstract: The present disclosure provides universal payment module systems and methods for mobile computing devices that include a universal payment module and an associated adapter device for coupling the universal payment module to any of a plurality of mobile computing devices. The present disclosure utilizes a common payment module which can interface multiple mobile computers with differing form factors via a snap-on sled. Advantageously, the present invention allows the leveraging of one payment module for many mobile computers. The single payment module includes various special payment security mechanisms via mechanical, electrical, and software mechanisms. The present disclosure enables design, standardization, and production of one single common, universal payment module for a plurality of mobile computer devices instead of one specific payment module for each form factor of the plurality of mobile computer devices.

  • Patent number: 9971919
Abstract: Systems and methods for adaptively optimizing RFID-based POS performance are described. In various aspects, one or more processors and one or more image sensors are configured to aggregate images, where the images are captured by the image sensor(s) and where the image sensor(s) are associated with an RFID reader. A first density value and a second density value may be determined based on the image(s), where each of the first density value and the second density value is associated with a respective a first or second set of individuals, or a first or second set of products, located within a respective first and second POS lane. The second POS lane is positioned adjacent to the first POS lane. The first density value and the second density value are used to update a reader parameter associated with the RFID reader to optimize the RFID reader.

  • Patent number: 9971400
Abstract: A system and method tracks a user's eye for a data trigger arrangement. The method includes obtaining first image data within a first vision field of a first data capturing sensor. The method includes determining a first area viewed by a user's eye as a function of the first image data. The method includes obtaining second image data within a second vision field of a second sensor. The method includes determining a second area captured within the second field of vision as a function of the second image data. The method includes determining disposition data of the first area within the second area.
