Abstract: A system includes a power source, a power converter, a leakage current cancelation circuit, a load, and a ground node. The power converter is coupled to the power source and supplies the load. During operation of the power converter, a common mode current flows from the load to the ground node via a leakage capacitance. The leakage current cancelation circuit receives at least one signal indicative of the common mode current and generates a leakage cancelation current that is injected into at least one node of the system. The leakage cancelation current has a magnitude opposite a magnitude of the common mode current. For example, the leakage current cancelation circuit receives supply voltage signals output by the power converter, and generates and supplies the leakage cancelation current onto input nodes of the power converter such that a current level on the ground node is between ?3.0 milliamperes and +3.0 milliamperes.

Abstract: Systems and methods for removing jump discontinuities in growth data are provided. A first approximation to a received data set is determined by applying a non-linear regression process to a non-linear function that models the data set to determine parameters, including a step discontinuity parameter. A second approximation to the data set is also determined by applying a regression process to a second non-linear function to determine parameters, including a step discontinuity parameter, of the second function. One of the approximations is selected based on an information coefficient determined for each of the approximations. If a confidence interval for the step discontinuity parameter includes zero, no correction is made, and if includes zero, then a correction is made. For a correction, the portion of the data curve prior to the step change is replaced with appropriate portion of the selected approximation to produce a shift-corrected data set.

Abstract: A lubricated tubular graft is implanted in the inferior vena cava and the superior vena cava in order to control the inflow of blood to the right atrium. A bifurcated leg with a non-collapsing stent extends across the tricuspid valve. A bioprosthetic valve is positioned proximal of the stent in the bifurcated leg in order to regulate flow through the tricuspid valve and to eliminate tricuspid regurgitation.
Abstract: A high accuracy open phase detection system for power transformers that uses a combination of logic controllers and current transformers to recognize an open phase condition experienced by the power transformers under no load, light load, and full load conditions. A current to voltage and current to current transformer on each phase are employed to detect the excitation current and load current conditions. During an open phase condition, a microprocessor detecting device, connected to the current to voltage and current to current transformers, monitors the appropriate power system quantities to determine the existence of one or more open phase(s) with or without a ground or an open phase with line charging capacitance. Through the microprocessor monitor, the microprocessor detecting device can alert operators to the loss of phase or abnormal conditions in the power source.

Abstract: Plasmonic-surface antenna systems are described in which resonators, or cells, are closely arranged but do not touch. At least a portion of a radiating surface includes a plurality of cells (operative as resonators) placed very close together to one so that a surface (plasmonic) wave causes near replication of the current of one cell in an adjacent cell. Cells with one or more fractal shapes may be used as a fractal plasmonic surface (FPS). Systems and/or methods are described of using plasmonic surfaces or fractal plasmonic surfaces for radiofrequency identification (RFID). A PS or FPS may act as an intermediary array of antennas, which can serve to connect an RFID reader with one or more RFID tags. Structures including cages are described that can include one or more surfaces that are each an FPS. Methods of power transfer are described.
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for implementing three-dimensional or multi-layer integrated circuit designs. These techniques identify an electronic design and a plurality of inputs for implementing connectivity for the electronic design. Net distribution results may be generated at least by performing one or more net distribution analyzes. A bump in a bump array may then be assigned to a net that connects a first layer and a second layer in the electronic design based in part or in whole upon the net distribution analysis results.

Abstract: A lidar-based apparatus and method are used for the solid state steering of laser beams using Photonic Integrated Circuits. Integrated optic design and fabrication micro- and nanotechnologies are used for the production of chip-scale optical splitters that distribute an optical signal from a laser essentially uniformly to an array of pixels, said pixels comprising tunable optical delay lines and optical antennas. Said antennas achieve out-of-plane coupling of light. As the delay lines of said antenna-containing pixels in said array are tuned, each antenna emits light of a specific phase to form a desired far-field radiation pattern through interference of these emissions. Said array serves the function of solid state optical phased array.
Abstract: System and methods for selectively or automatically migrating resources between storage operation cells are provided. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, a management component within the storage operation system may monitor system operation and migrate components from storage operation cell to another to facilitate failover recovery, promote load balancing within the system and improve overall system performance as further described herein. Another aspect of the invention may involve performing certain predictive analyses on system operation to reveal trends and tendencies within the system. Such information may be used as the basis for potentially migrating components from one storage operation cell to another to improve system performance and reduce or eliminate resource exhaustion or congestion conditions.
Abstract: In a non-excitation operative brake, a friction plate faces the inner disk part of an attraction plate made from a magnetic material, and an electromagnet faces the outer disk part of the attraction plate. A part for generating a brake force acting on a hollow shaft is located on an inner circumferential side in a radial direction of the attraction plate, while a part for magnetically attracting the attraction plate so as to release the brake force is located on an outer circumferential side in the radial direction of the attraction plate. A flat non-excitation operative brake having a reduced length in the direction of an axis line can be realized.
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for helping to protect an occupant (28) of a vehicle (12) includes an inflatable vehicle occupant protection device (14) configured to be inflated and deployed between a side structure (16) of the vehicle and the vehicle occupant. A deployment sleeve (50) encircles a portion of the protection device. The deployment sleeve (50) includes a rupturable tear seam (54) that absorbs the initial break-out forces of the protection device (14) during the initial stages of inflation and deployment. The tear seam (54) is adapted to rupture after the deployment sleeve (50) absorbs the break-out forces and release the protection device (14) to inflate and deploy to a fully inflated and deployed condition.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for reducing processing time in characterizing a programmably implemented cell. The cell is decomposed into a plurality of channel connected component portions (CCC's), each including a local output node and at least one switching device establishing a conduction channel within a channel path extending from the local output node to a power plane of the cell. A component characteristic function is generated for each CCC, which logically sums a locus of vectors for nodes electrically connected to the local output node. Each CCC's component characteristic function is expanded to form a local characteristic function relative to one or more other upstream CCC. Each local characteristic function is thereby formed exclusive of any upstream local output node electrically disconnected from its local output node. At least one feasible vector is selectively generated from the local characteristic functions according to requirements predefined for a parametric measurement.

Abstract: A system for simultaneously charging an energy storage device from multiple energy input devices includes energy input devices in the form of solar and non-solar modules and an energy storage device in the form of a rechargeable battery, which is part of an energy storage module. A first solar module is able to generate solar power and delivers this power to the energy storage module, while the non-solar module delivers, for example, electrochemically generated electricity to the energy storage module via the first solar module, which acts as a backplane. The system may also include additional solar modules that can be connected to the first solar module in collapsed or expanded states to adjust the amount of electricity generated from solar power.

Abstract: Apparatus and related methods are provided for automatically recalibrating a SAW scale for changing environmental factors. During a period of time when there is no change to a weight applied to the scale, readings of SAW transducers which relate to weight indications and environmental factor indications are taken for two adjacent operating modes of the scale, and two calibrated weight calculations are made utilizing those readings. The difference in calibrated weight calculations is then related to a variable utilized to transform the readings into weights, which is updated, thereby recalibrating the scale.
