  • Patent number: 10178487
Abstract: In order to achieve an enhanced audio experience, audio information, for example a movie soundtrack having binaural components, may be stored on a mobile device prior to the beginning of a movie presentation in a theater. Responsive to an audio sync signal presented to the mobile device, the audio information may be played back from the mobile device in a manner synchronized to display of the movie on a theater screen. The audio sync signal may be a high-frequency signal emitted by a loudspeaker in the theater. The audio information may be customized for a user. For example, via use of a binaural audio system, a user of a first mobile device may experience a movie presentation in a theater in a first language, and user of a second mobile device may experience the same movie presentation in the theater in a second language.

  • Patent number: 10178035
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for quality of service over broadband networks. A network device performs a probe transaction over a tunnel of a broadband network. Based on the probe transaction, parameters are determined reflecting tunnel performance, and, based on the parameters, target transmit and receive rates are determined for data communications over the tunnel. Based on the target transmit and receive rates, data communications to and from a first node of the network are regulated. When the tunnel comprises a peered tunnel, the regulation of received data communications comprises performing a set rate transaction with a peer second node of the network (the set rate transaction establishes a rate for data transmitted over the tunnel by the peer second node to the first node). When the tunnel comprises a peerless tunnel, the regulation of received data communications comprises shaping data traffic received by the first node over the tunnel.

  • Patent number: 10174861
Abstract: An actuation mechanism for a valve comprises a first member having a generally spherical surface on a first side of a bisecting line and a generally ellipsoidal surface on a second side of the bisecting line. The first member is rotatable around a central point of the bisecting line. The valve has a second member with a truncated ellipsoidal surface on both sides of a bisecting line. The second member matingly engages the first member at the first member ellipsoidal surface. The valve also includes a longitudinal member coupled to the second member and a biasing member coupled to the longitudinal member. The first member is rotated around the central point from a first position to a second position to move the second member and the longitudinal member linearly. The biasing member returns the first member and second member to the first position upon release of the first member.

  • Patent number: 10177837
Abstract: A satellite system comprises LEO satellites and MEO satellites, and a control plane protocol architecture. The PHY, MAC, MAC/RLC and RRC layers are optimized for satellite environment. When the satellites are not processing satellites, eNB functions are implemented in a satellite gateway, and, when the satellites are processing satellites, protocol architecture in the control plane differ from LTE, as follows: PHY layer is moved to the communicating LEO/MEO satellite on the user link, MAC/RLC, RRC and PDCP are be located in satellite or gateway depending on satellite complexity, and the need to have mesh connectivity between UTs. When the RRC is implemented in the satellite, the RRC is divided into RRC-Lower and RRC-Upper layers. The RRC-L is satellite-based, and handles UT handover. The RRC-U is eNB-based, and handles resource management functions. The RRC-U communicates with the PDCP layer in the eNB to configure security, header and data compression.

  • Publication number: 20190001277
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to an effluent treatment device including in one embodiment a skid configuration. The method and apparatus of the present invention can use only two fluid pump units and including individual or multiple membrane modules in a stacked longitudinally arranged configuration. The stacked or in series modules can be either vertical or horizontal forming a column. The membrane modules are contained in large diameter pipes with enough space around each module so that filtered permeate water collects in the pipe and backwash water can flow in the pipe to backwash the modules and contained membranes. The present invention includes one or more hollow fiber ceramic membrane modules which each includes multiple hollow fibers bundled together by end or band caps (e.g., ceramic, epoxy of glass material end caps) to form a complete membrane module. A complete hollow fiber membrane module can comprise multiple symmetric individual hollow fibers between about 2.0 to 4.

  • Patent number: 10167601
Abstract: A generator for converting tidal fluctuation to electrical energy is provided. The generator includes at least a first energy transfer mechanism. The first energy transfer mechanism includes a weight that is floatable in water. The first energy transfer mechanism further includes a first driver gear and a coupling rod connecting the weight to the first driver gear. The coupling rod rotates the first driver gear when the weight rises or lowers while floating on the water. Therefore, linear vertical motion of the tides is converted into rotational motion. A rotor is rotated by the first driver gear when the first driver gear is rotated by the coupling rod.

  • Patent number: 10168938
Abstract: A method and apparatus allows single port memory devices to be accessed as pseudo two port memory devices. An access table is created to map the single port memory device to a single port even bank and a single port odd bank. The single port memory device is then accessed based on the mapping. An initial number of entries from the access table are retrieved in order to read addresses in the memory device until a predetermined delay expires. Simultaneous operations are then performed to read from rows in the memory device and write to rows in the memory device. Once all memory addresses have been read, write operations are sequentially performed in rows of the memory device based on the remaining entries of the access table.
