Abstract: A memory system and method of operating the same is described, where the memory system is used to store data in a RAIDed manner. The stored data may be retrieved, including the parity data so that the stored data is recovered when the first of either the stored data without the parity data, or the stored data from all but one memory module and the parity data, has been received. The writing of data, for low write data loads, is managed such that only one of the memory modules of a RAID stripe is being written to, or erased, during a time interval.
Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention, a memory apparatus is disclosed. The memory apparatus includes a memory array, a block read/write controller, and a random access read memory controller. The memory array is block read/write accessible and random read accessible. The block read/write controller is coupled between the memory array and an external interconnect. The block read/write controller performs block read/write operations upon the memory array to access blocks of consecutive memory locations therein. The random access read memory controller is coupled between the memory array and the external interconnect in parallel with the block read/write access controller. The random access read memory controller performs random read memory operations upon the memory array to access random memory locations therein.

Abstract: Systems and methods for timing of a passing of an object past a monitored location using a timing system and an automated object detection system detecting the passing of the object at the monitored location, and also having a remote entry computer system being positionable at a current location selected from a plurality potential locations each of which is set apart and different than the monitored location and having a clock determining a present time, a user interface receiving user input data, and a memory storing an offset time value, and the remote entry computer system receiving the user input data, receiving a user data input time associated with the receipt of the user input data, and storing the received user input data and the user data input time, and determining of an adjusted time value responsive to the determined remote time value and the stored offset time value.
Abstract: The invention is a digital doorman-like and communication system comprising a small-footprint, software-driven, controller device that is intuitively operable and which also communicates with wireless tenants' mobile devices, and based thereon, controls access to the building entranceway area, distributes information to management and to tenants and communicates flexibly including via voice, video, messaging and the like.
Abstract: The present invention is a system for adjusting the height of vehicles. The vehicle is supported by a hollow cylinder and a piston having an undersized piston skirt is mounted on the suspension system's coil spring, and sealingly slidable within the cylinder bore. When a fluid is introduced into the expandable pressure space between the piston and the cylinder top, the piston and cylinder are forced apart, raising the vehicle. The undersized piston skirt can extend beyond the end of the cylinder, allowing the piston a greater travel length within the cylinder bore. The invention may be operated manually by a vehicle driver through push buttons, which can be the vehicle's existing cruise control buttons. Alternatively, the system can be automated using a control unit to automatically adjust ground clearance to avoid collision with obstacles in the vehicle's path.
Abstract: A diffusiophoretic water filtration device includes a pressurized gas chamber receiving a pressurized gas; an inlet manifold receiving a colloidal suspension including colloidal particles in water; a flow chamber having an inlet and an outlet, the flow chamber receiving the colloidal suspension at the inlet from the inlet manifold, the colloidal suspension flowing between the inlet and at least one outlet in a flow direction; and a horizontal sheet separating the gas chamber and the flow chamber, the sheet being made of a gas permeable membrane, the gas capable of permeating the membrane, the membrane being water impermeable, the gas being carbon dioxide and permeating the membrane upwardly from the gas chamber in a direction normal to the membrane so as to induce diffusiophoretic motion on at least some of the colloid particles opposite to or in the direction normal to the membrane, the sheet covering a top of the pressurized gas chamber.
Abstract: A waypoint management method for an Air Traffic Control (ATC) system for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) includes communicating with a plurality of UAVs via one or more wireless networks comprising at least one cellular network; receiving updates related to an obstruction status of each of a plurality of waypoints from the plurality of UAVs, wherein the plurality of waypoints are defined over a geographic region under control of the ATC system; and managing flight paths, landing, and take-off of the plurality of UAVs in the geographic region based on the obstruction status of each of the plurality of waypoints.
Abstract: A liquid dispenser comprise a nozzle comprising an inlet in fluid communication with an outlet to form a flow path, a thermistor in fluid communication with the inlet, an actuator rod comprising a gasket rod tip viton, at least one centering pin to center the actuator rod in at least a portion of the flow path, a flowmeter in fluid communication with the inlet, a double acting pneumatic cylinder comprising a first pneumatic inlet and a second pneumatic inlet operatively connected to the actuator rod, and a switch lever operatively coupled to a micro switch, wherein the nozzle opens when gas enters the first pneumatic inlet when the switch lever is activated by pressing on the micro switch and closes when gas enters the second pneumatic inlet when the switch lever is deactivated. Portable and non-portable liquid dispensing systems comprising the liquid dispenser are also described.
Abstract: Wall blocks, veneers, veneer connectors, walls, and methods of constructing walls are provided. Abstract: When a brake system on a commercial vehicle, lateral acceleration and/or yaw of the vehicle are monitored and compared to a first predetermined threshold. If the first predetermined threshold is exceeded, a precharge command is sent to the brake system to precharge one or more air chambers by temporarily deactivating a modulator valve and activating an antilock traction relay valve in order to charge the air chambers up to a level permitted by the modulator valve. Upon detecting a panic braking event, a command signal is sent to the brake system to release the precharged air to facilitate braking.

A second system for determining the gender of a chick includes a second moving platform, a second image capture device, stimuli directed at the chick to cause the chick to open its wings. The second system also includes a second database having wing patterns of male and female chicks of the breed of the chick on the second moving platform and a second computer processor in communication with the second image capture device and the second database.
Abstract: Non-clogging airlift pumps and associated systems and methods employing said pumps. The airlift pumps generally include an enclosed air tank within which is located a hollow cylinder having an open top and a closed bottom wall. A gas (e.g., air) line passes into the air tank for supplying gas thereto. A suction port is located in the bottom wall of the cylinder, and a substantially vertically-oriented discharge pipe passes through a top wall of the air tank such that an intake end of the discharge pipe resides within the cylinder. Multiple airlift pumps may be used in conjunction in a given application.
Abstract: Automatic flavoring and water dispensing systems are disclosed. The systems may be used to add flavorings to medications, and to reconstitute medications by adding water. The systems include multiple flavoring containers communicating with a valve assembly that controls the type and amount of each flavoring to be delivered during a dispensing operation. Water for reconstitution purposes may be provided through the flavoring valve assembly and/or through a separate valve. An input device such as a code scanner may be used to input data regarding the type of medication to be flavored into the system, and a flavoring formulary may be used to provide multiple flavoring options. The dispensing system allows for automatic dispensing of medication flavorings and/or reconstitution water from a single unit.
