Abstract: A nose fairing for a cargo enclosure may generally include a nose body configured to extend outwardly from a front wall of the enclosure. The nose body may include an upper nose wall, a lower nose wall and a leading edge region extending between the upper and lower nose walls. The upper nose wall may include a concave region that terminates at the leading edge region such that the nose fairing transitions directly from the concave region of the upper nose wall to the leading edge region. The lower nose wall may include a convex region that terminates at the leading edge region such that the nose fairing transitions directly from the convex region of the lower nose wall to the leading edge region. The leading edge region may define a radius of curvature that differs from a radius of curvature of the convex region of the lower nose wall.

Abstract: A method includes encoding, at a mobile device having a camera, a first portion of a media stream captured by the camera based on an encoding parameter. The method also includes sending the encoded first portion of the media stream from the mobile device to a computing device via a network connection. The method further includes detecting a change in available network bandwidth of the network connection. The method includes automatically adjusting the encoding parameter in response to the change in the available network bandwidth. The method also includes encoding a second portion of the media stream based on the adjusted encoding parameter and sending the encoded second portion of the media stream from the mobile device to the computing device.
Abstract: A polyaxial screw assembly includes an internal load dampening mechanism for sharing and dampening loads between at least one screw member and at least one rod member interconnected by the assembly. A method of interconnecting the orthopedic screw with the rod includes dampening with a body member interconnecting the screw to the rod.
Abstract: A buckled sidewalk repair system capable of equally lifting both sides of the defect in order to cut one or both slabs to an appropriate size then return them to a level position. A method of repairing a buckled sidewalk includes using a pneumatic bladder crafted of an airtight fabric composite able to contain sufficient pressure to lift the specified load. With this device and method a crew of two can repair the buckled sidewalk in two hours with a minimum of equipment, saving time, resources, machinery, personnel, and money.
Abstract: A device for measuring electrical current in a line may include, among other things, a Hall effect sensor wherein a first response is generated by electrical current in the line; a current transformer disposed with the line extending axially therethrough and connected in series to the Hall effect sensor wherein a second response is generated by the electrical current in the line. An equalizer may be connected to the Hall effect sensor and to the current transformer and may be configured to flatten the first and second responses relative to each other. The permeability magnetic path length and cross section of the current transformer is selected such that low frequency roll-off of the current transformer is at a lower frequency than high frequency roll-off of the Hall effect sensor.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for blow molding a fuel tank with multiple concentric needles to form an opening in the fuel tank, and/or for calibrating the opening in the fuel tank as it cools.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of navigating an information structure comprising: providing a graphical menu interface displaying the items of a given level of the information structure and enabling selection thereof; dynamically constructing an active path as a sequence of active links after an item of the information structure has been selected; said active links allowing the display of one or more items on a given level of the information structure; and said active links allowing a user to access an item in the information structure by selecting from the one or more items displayed by one of the active links on the active path.
Abstract: A process for controlling a vehicle start-stop operation having a hybrid drive with an internal-combustion engine and an electric motor, a service brake with an ABS and an electric parking brake, includes: determining, monitoring and analyzing performance parameters of the vehicle, the internal-combustion engine, the electric motor, the service brake and the parking brake; automatically releasing the parking brake in the case of a starting prompt because of determined performance parameters; driving the vehicle by the electric motor for the start; starting the engine by the electric motor if the engine is switched off; driving the vehicle by the electric motor and the engine; activating a generator operation of the electric motor in the case of a braking prompt because of determined performance parameters; activating the service brake; and automatically locking the electric parking brake when the vehicle is stopped after a previously definable deceleration time.
Abstract: A circuit board that is to be mounted in a connector socket includes a plurality of electrical connectors located along a side edge of the circuit board. Retention bosses are formed on first and second opposite sides of the circuit board, each of the retention bosses protruding from a surface of the circuit board and extending parallel to and adjacent to the first edge of the circuit board. When the first edge of the circuit board is inserted into a slot of a connector socket, contact surfaces of the first and second retention bosses contact top surfaces of the connector socket to help immobilize the circuit board with respect to the connector socket. Adhesive layers on the contact surfaces of the first and second retention bosses may adhere to the top surfaces of the connector socket to help hold the circuit board immobile with respect to the connector socket.
Abstract: A multi-mode, preferably dual mode, radio frequency identification (RFID) tag is adapted for automatic detection of whether a RFID reader located within communication range of the RFID tag is transmitting a continuous wave (CW) or modulated wave types of RF signal, and accordingly, mandating a response from the tag in read-only (RO) mode or read/write (R/W) mode, respectively. The tag includes means for designating one of the RO and R/W operating modes as a default mode of the tag, and for switching the tag from its default mode to its other operating mode, and vice versa, according to a rule for determining the frequency of occurrence of a selected event related to signal type of the reader. A device-implemented method of this automatic detection, and a method of fabricating the tag, are also disclosed.

Abstract: Embodiments of this invention generally relate to three dimensional head mounted displays (HMD) with stereo cameras that could be used as a vision platform for applications that modify the camera images to benefit people who suffer from eye diseases, brain trauma, and brain diseases. Embodiments take images from stereo cameras that are integrated into a head mounted display. Images generated by the stereo cameras are routed through an external image processing system that is worn by the goggle wearer before they are sent back to the goggle's three dimensional stereo displays. The image processor also uses voice commands that reconfigure the goggle vision system to process images based on a predefined organization for a specific activity.
