  • Patent number: 4624437
Abstract: A body-weight adjusting device for a seat suspension is provided including an X-shaped link mechanism constituting the seat suspension, a combination of pinions and rack gears and a pair of tension springs. Vertical movement of an operation lever causes rotation of the pinion gears and simultaneous rotation of the intermeshing rack gears, to thereby increase or decrease the tension of the tension springs. In response to such tension variation in the tension springs, the X-shaped link mechanism is raised or lowered corresponding so as to permit a selective adjustment of the seat suspension to accommodate the weight of a seated occupant.

  • Patent number: 4609226
Abstract: A seat for use in a vehicle such as an automobile is disclosed which comprises a cushion member formed of foam material, a top member for covering the cushion member and a plurality of hanger members. In this seat, the top surface of the top member and the upper portion of the cushion member are respectively divided into a central portion and side portions independently of each other. A partition cloth is provided between the central and side portions of the top member and is then inserted within a cut groove separating the central and side portions of the cushion member from each other. After then, the hanger member is used to pull the inserted partition cloth and thus the top surface of the top member into their respective desired positions. With this structure, when an occupant is seated on the central portion of the seat, it is ensured that such a load applied to the central portion of the seat by the occupant will not have a deterimental effect on the peripheral or side portions of the seat.

  • Patent number: 4589698
Abstract: A head-rest device for a vehicle seat is disclosed in which a head-rest stay mounting a head-rest in its upper portion is supported in such a manner that it can be adjusted vertically with respect to a seat back by means of a lock mechanism provided in a head-rest holder. According to the lock mechanism of the invention, a torsion lock spring is fitted into the head-rest holder through which the head-rest stay is inserted and which is fixed to the seat back. The head-rest stay can be locked relative to the head-rest holder by means of the winding force of the torsion lock spring. An operator can be rotated to rewind the torsion lock spring so as to release such locking of the head-rest stay. Thus, it is possible to adjust the vertical position of the head-rest as required.
