  • Patent number: 4558903
Abstract: An angle adjustment device is disclosed in which the angle of inclination of a headrest or thigh support can be adjusted by rotating a movable body itself forming a part of the headrest or thigh support. When the movable body is rotated, sectors fixed to the movable body are rotated together with the movable body and are engaged with a stopper rod secured to a bracket. Thus, the sectors are locked in a desired position, that is, the angle of the movable body is adjusted. When the movable body is rotated beyond a predetermined angle of rotation, the sectors are disengaged out of the stopper rod and the movable body is rotated in an opposite direction so as to return to its initial position.

  • Patent number: 4555141
Abstract: A vehicle seat is disclosed which includes a pan-type frame, a pad formed of a foam material, and a top layer adapted to cover the surface of said pad and also to fix said pad to said frame, while the end of said top layer is secured to the frame simultaneously with the formation of said pad. Accordingly, the conventional fixing step of fixing the top layer end to the frame by means of hogged rings or the like is not necessary, which results in a simplified and positive fixation of the top layer end. In other words, the following conventional steps can be eliminated: forming a frame in a pan structure; causing a foam material to foam within a metal mold having a predetermined configuration to form a pad in order to obtain a structure corresponding to that of the associated seat; and placing a top layer over the pad to be secured to the frame. With the invention, the top layer can be integrally secured to the frame by means of a foam material for forming a pad.

  • Patent number: 4521473
Abstract: In a carpet having a through bore, the through bore is formed by fusion-cutting. A hem member is welded integrally to the areas of a napped portion and a base cloth at the circumferential edges of the through bore. This prevents the threads of the napped portion existing at the circumferential edges of the through bore from fraying and also keeps such areas from being stained with oil or the like. Also, a method of welding said hem member to said base cloth is disclosed which comprises: laminating a thermally weldable synthetic resin film for hemming on a carpet, punching out a through bore in the synthetic resin film by means of a high frequency wave, and at the same time welding the hem member integrally to the wall edges of said punched through-bore. The simultaneous operation--welding of the hem member and punching of the through bore--provides a carpet quite easy to form and less expensive.

  • Patent number: 4519862
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a cushion material by welding under heat a first layer to an adjoining second layer at necessary portions of the latter by use of a welding member having a plurality of pressure applying projections. The material of the second layer is deformed and molten and flows at temperatures higher than those of the material of the first layer. In the method, the surface portions of the first layer not engaged by the welding member and lying closer to the welding member and/or the welding member itself are cooled by cooling gas thereby welding the first layer to the second layer without giving rise to any appreciable thermal change on the surface of the first layer except the portions engaged by the welding member.
