  • Patent number: 9596575
Abstract: Embodiments are provided for calibration, preprocessing, and segmentation for user localization and network traffic density estimation. The embodiments include sending, from a network component, a request to a plurality of user equipment (UEs) to participate in reporting localization data. Reports for localization data including no-lock reports are received from at least some of the UEs. The no-lock reports indicate indoor UEs among the UEs. The network preprocesses the localization data by eliminating, from the localization data, data that increases the total noise to signal ratio. The localization data is then processed using a model that distinguishes between different buildings. This includes associating, according to a radio map, radio characteristics in the localization data with corresponding bins in a non-uniform grid of coverage. The non-uniform grid is predetermined to maximize uniqueness between the radio characteristics.

  • Patent number: 9595281
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein generally relate to contact at the disk by the recording head in a hard disk drive. In one embodiment, a direct current is applied to an element in a HAMR head. An alternating current is then applied to the element over top of the direct current to cause the HAMR head to dither. By monitoring the head signal at the dither frequency, a touchdown or contact of a NFT on a disk may be detected based upon variations in the produced signal.

  • Patent number: 9589575
Abstract: An echo cancellation system that detects and compensates for differences in sample rates between the echo cancellation system and a set of wireless speakers based on a frequency-domain analysis. The system generates Fourier transforms for a microphone signal and a reference signal and determines a series of angles for individual frames. For each tone in the Fourier transforms, the system determines the angles and uses linear regression to determine an individual frequency offset associated with the tone. Using the individual frequency offsets associated with the tones, the system uses linear regression to determine an overall frequency offset between the audio sent to the speakers and the audio received from a microphone. Based on the overall frequency offset, samples of the audio are added or dropped when echo cancellation is performed, compensating for the frequency offset.
