  • Publication number: 20140334492
Abstract: Header field identifiers can be dynamically bound to header fields in software defined networks via signaling between software defined network (SDN) controllers and switches. Dynamically establishing header binding definitions may allow new header fields to be recognized and manipulated (e.g., matched, modified, etc.) by SDN switches without having to update the corresponding standard. To achieve this, an SDN controller sends a binding request to an SDN switch to propose that a header field identifier be dynamically associated with a header field type. If the SDN switch acknowledges the binding request, then the header field identifier is used to identify the header field type in messages (e.g., control messages, etc.) transmitted to the SDN switch.

Abstract: Embodiments are provided to support device-to-device (D2D) communications in a time-division duplexing (TDD) communications system, and ensure that D2D discovery signals are transmitted by user devices on an uplink subframe when there is a TDD frame configuration change. In an embodiment, a user device receives form the network a TDD frame configuration selected from a set of available TDD frame configurations according to the TDD configuration. The device further receives a D2D discovery configuration for a discovery time interval. The user device then allocates a transmission resource a D2D discovery signal within the discovery time interval according to the D2D discovery configuration. The user device is also configured to receive from another device a second D2D discovery signal during the discovery time interval in accordance with the TDD configuration and the D2D discovery configuration.

Abstract: A wireless fiber optic endface inspector includes a video microscope capable of wirelessly transmitting video streaming signal of endface image in real-time to a display device. The video microscope includes a microscope optical system, an adapting tip for interfacing an endface, an LED light source, a camera module for receiving and converting the endface image into video streaming signal, a Wi-Fi AP board, and a battery for supplying power. The video microscope may be constructed by adding a Wi-Fi AP board and a battery to a conventional inspector microscope. The display device has software for detecting when the endface is focused. Once the endface is focused, the display device emits an audio signal to alert the operator, who may then trigger the display device to analyze the endface image using an endface analysis software or save it to a folder, or transmit the image to a remote server.

Abstract: A method for grouping and storing objects across different storage solutions in storage systems according to analysis of multiple dimensions of information may be implemented as or in a storage management module. The module collects information about objects (e.g., data objects) in a storage system (e.g., a data storage system). The objects may be objects already stored in the storage system or may be new objects to be stored in the storage system. The module analyzes the collected information across multiple dimensions to determine groupings of the objects, and determines a storage solution for each determined grouping. The module may then direct storage of the objects in the groupings according to the determined storage solutions. Upon obtaining new information about object(s) in the storage system, the module may direct movement of the object(s) from one storage solution to another storage solution according to an analysis including the new information.
