    Abstract: When a communication system is constructed by use of a plurality of data relay apparatuses of the present invention, it is possible to control an execution/non-execution of a compression/decompression for voice data so that the compression/decompression is not repeatedly executed regardless of a PBX. An ATM multiplexer sends out a transmission pattern to an apparatus adjacent to the ATM multiplexer via a PBX, and stops the compression/decompression of the voice data to relay the voice data transmissively, only when the ATM multiplexer receives the transmission pattern from the adjacent apparatus via the PBX. In other cases, the ATM multiplexer relays the voice data while executing the compression/decompression operation for the voice data.

The message is transmitted to the first terminal only if the user wishes to listen to it so as to decide whether or not to hold the call to the second terminal. Otherwise, it proceeds with the setting up of the call to the second terminal.

    Abstract: A method for evaluating traffic dispersion at an exchange in a communications network, the exchange being arranged for applying a set of routing rules in allotting to a plurality of links (i.e., circuit groups) incoming traffic directed toward a given destination. The method includes the steps of incrementally generating traffic quantums representative of the traffic; producing a distribution of the traffic quantums over the circuit groups according to the set of routing rules; the distribution thus obtained being statistically representative of the dispersion of the incoming traffic over the plurality of circuit groups at the exchange. The steps of incrementally generating traffic quantums representative of the traffic and producing a distribution of the traffic quantums are performed in the absence of interference with operation of the exchanges/nodes in the communications network.

    Abstract: A process for fabricating a micro-optical lens comprises forming a wall post structure on a substrate, coating with a polymeric film on the wall post, then making it adhering over both sides of the wall post structure by a transverse etching on the substrate around the base of posts. After an isolating process and a proper heating treatment, said polymeric film cohering to form a plano-convex lens. By controlling the respective amount of the polymeric film on both sides of said wall post structure, the polymeric film can combine with the wall post structure to form a composite material biconvex micro-lens, plano-convex micro-lens and the like. Alternatively, a single material micro-lens can be formed by imaging the profile of the polymeric micro-lens on the wall post structure via an etching process.

    Abstract: In an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system, a receiver includes a received signal transformer, a frequency offset estimator and a frequency compensator. The received signal transformer removes from a training symbol a guardtone and a sub-carrier deviated from a mean value of effective sub-carrier signals by over a predetermined value. The frequency offset estimator estimates the frequency offset of the OFDM digital signal and the frequency compensator compensates the frequency offset of received signals by using the estimated frequency offset. Thus, data transmission efficiency can be greatly improved and influence from a frequency-selective noise channel can be minimized. Further, by removing data unnecessary for the frequency offset estimation, the calculation amount can be reduced.

The contributor is introduced to the other participants, automatically or on demand, for example by a voice or visual message including the contributor name.
