Abstract: This invention discloses an electronic device with storable earphone, wherein an earphone cable is wrapped in an earphone strap and a coiler of the electronic device adjusts the extension and contraction of the earphone strap, so that a user may adjust and use the earphone in different environments. When the earphone strap is coiled, the strap is coiled evenly by a guider on the coiler to avoid the jam caused by coiling the strap onto one side of the collector. The structure of the coiler is simple, which makes use of one side of the existing battery compartment of the electronic device for its storage, and thus not occupying additional space in the electronic device.

Abstract: A method and a system for controlling a force feedback member able to interact with another member, including a local model for calculating a set point addressed to the force feedback member from a plurality of variables, and a remote model for estimating interactions and variables of the other member, with updating on receiving data from another remote system, and resynchronizer means able to send a resynchronization message to the other system.
Abstract: Disclosed are a real time remote monitoring system and a method therefore using an ADSL in a reverse direction. The real time remote monitoring system performs a remote monitoring in real time by compression-encoding a plurality of monitored image data or audio data in a bit stream, generating a motion detection signal for each image data, and by compressing/transmitting video or video/audio data with an ADSL modem installed in a reverse direction.
Abstract: A method of granting authorization to access a resource, comprising the following steps: connecting a user to an access management center to request that authorization to access a given resource be granted to a third party equipped with a mobile terminal, defining particular conditions governing the access authorization, the user sending coordinates of the third party's mobile terminal to the access management center, the access management center generating access data as a function of the resource and said particular conditions, and sending said access data to the third party's mobile terminal to enable the latter to be identified by an access control device associated with said resource in order to authorize the third party to access that resource.
Abstract: An arrangement and a method of localizing active speakers in a video conference includes a localization device that locates at least one microphone relative to the camera, while the at least one microphone in turn localizes the relative positions of audio sources. As the microphones are usually positioned close to the audio source in a video conference, the ratio of the distance between microphones relative to the distance between table microphone and audio source is reduced. Thus, the microphones are able to determine the positions of the audio sources with a higher resolution than if placed close to the camera. When the respective positions of the microphones relative to the camera and the audio source are known, the position of the audio source relative to the camera is then determined by means of geometrical calculations.
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to conferencing network systems and more specifically to a method and a device for automatic generation and allocation of optimized setup of multiple end points (EPs) to multi site connection units (MCUs) in a distributed video conference system according to a weighting function. The invention further relates to a method and device for monitoring and administering distributed MCUs connected together and set up in a call in a distributed video conference system. By gathering and merging call information the method and system is capable of sending a specific command to the MCU capable of executing the command.

Abstract: An antenna (10) having a plurality of unitary dipole antennas (12) formed by folding a stamped piece of sheet metal. Each of the unitary dipole antennas (12) are fed by two stripline feed systems (20, 22). Each of these feed systems are separated above and extend over a groundplane (14) and are separated by an air dielectric to minimize intermodulation (IM). Phase shifters (40, 42, 44) in combination with a downtilt control lever (52) are slidably adjusted beneath the respective dividing portions of the stripline feed system to adjust signal phase and achieve a uniform beam tilt having uniform and balanced side lobes. These stripline feed systems can also be formed from stamped sheet metal and which have distal ends bent 90° upward to couple to the respective dipole antennas (12).

Abstract: A method detects blocks that are to be indicated as skipped at an earlier stage of the encoding process, than would be the case with other implementations of the ITU H.263 and H.264 standards. The method includes transforming 4×4 blocks in the macro blocks having a skip vector of zero with a binary-transform function. The blocks having values of the four uppermost left binary-transform coefficients less than a predefined threshold, are defined as skipped, thus, minimizing the need for computationally demanding block transformation or quantization.

Abstract: A method is proposed for improving protection of data traffic in an optical ring network, where the data is arranged in SDH/SONET frames and the network supports a standardized MS-SPRING/BLSR protocol. The method comprises providing means to distinguish between a first kind and a second kind of coded protocol messages. The first kind of the messages is a bridge request message sent from node P (a first node) to node Q (a second node) and signaling about a unidirectional signal failure or degradation between the node P and Q, and the second kind of the messages is an acknowledgement message sent from node Q to node P in response to the bridge request message.
