Abstract: Disclosed is a less expensive, more efficient process for enhanced oil recovery, particularly useful in high cost environments such as offshore. This process is known as single well gas assisted gravity drainage (SW-GAGD). The process comprises the steps of drilling from a single wellbore one or more horizontal laterals near the bottom of a payzone and injecting a fluid displacer such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide through injection points. The injectant sweeps the oil and other produced fluids in the reservoir towards other producing perforations in the single well.

Abstract: A composition comprising thermoset polymer, shape memory polymer to facilitate macro scale damage closure, and a component for molecular scale healing has the ability to repair structural defects by a bio-mimetic, close-then-heal process. The shape memory polymer serves to bring surfaces of a structural defect into proximity, after which the healing component moves into the defect and provides molecular scale healing. The component for molecular scale healing can be a thermoplastic, such as fibers, particles or spheres, which are heated to or above the thermoplastic's melting point, and then the composition is cooled below that melting temperature. The compositions can not only close macroscopic defects, but they can also do so repeatedly even if damage recurs in a previously healed/repaired area.

Abstract: The herbicide-tolerant rice cultivar designated “PVL01” and its hybrids and derivatives are disclosed. The present invention provides a method for producing rice, wherein said rice is tolerant to a quizalofop herbicide or tolerant to a tepraloxdyim herbicide; wherein said rice belongs to any of (a) variety “PVL01” or (b) a hybrid, derivative, or progeny of “PVL01”. Abstract: Snapshot Isolation (SI) is an established model in the database community, which permits write-read conflicts to pass and aborts transactions only on write-write conflicts. With the Write Skew Anomaly (WSA) correctly eliminated, SI can reduce the occurrence of aborts, save the work done by transactions, and greatly benefit long transactions involving complex data structures. Embodiments include a multi-versioned memory subsystem for hardware-based transactional memory (HTM) on the GPU, with a method for eliminating the WSA on the fly, and incorporates SI. The GPU HTM can provide reduced compute time for some compute tasks.

Abstract: A computer system implementing transactional memory. The computing system includes a plurality of Single Instruction Multiple Thread (SIMT) cores and a conflicting address table (CAT) for each core. The CAT stores word addresses for reads and writes correlated with flags indicating whether a corresponding word is written or read by a committing transaction. The CATs for the different SIMT cores are coupled together by an interconnect. A commit unit (CU) is coupled to the SIMT cores and is configured to validate transactions. The cores access its CAT to access a first address of data affected by a first transaction to be committed at the CU. The first address is compared to a second address affected by a second transaction. When the first address matches the second address, the core delays or prevents committing the first transaction at the CU by pausing the first transaction or aborting the first transaction.

Abstract: Piston rings are disclosed that relate to seal performance in piston containing machines such as piston driven engines. The piston rings may include a piston ring contact side for contact with a cylinder wall in which the piston ring contact side has multiple cavities configured on alternating edges of the piston ring contact side. Abstract: Pneumonia due to the fungus Pneumocystis jirovecii is a life-threatening infection that occurs in immunocompromised patients. The inability to culture the organism as well as the lack of a sequenced genome has hindered antigen discovery that could be useful in developing effective vaccines, therapeutic antibodies and diagnostic methods. A method of surface proteomics of Pneumocystis murina that reliably detects surface proteins that are conserved in Pneumocystis jirovecii is described. In particular, eight identified P. murina surface proteins are described. Methods of eliciting immune responses against the identified proteins, generating therapeutic antibodies against the identified proteins, as well as diagnostic methods based on the identified peptides are described.
