Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for reducing formaldehyde emission from thermoplastics mixed with polyacetal, which comprises melting the thermoplastic mixture in the presence of at least one stabilizer in a mixing assembly and subjecting it to further processing steps.
During this process, formaldehyde emission deriving from decomposition of the polyacetal is markedly reduced by adding suitable additives/stabilizers.

Abstract: A process for preparing trioxane by converting methanol to formaldehyde by dehydrogenation at a temperature of 300 to 1000° C., in the presence of a catalyst, wherein the catalyst is generated physically separately from the reactor and at a temperature above the dehydrogenation temperature, and trimerizing the formaldehyde prepared in this way to give trioxane. Also described is a process for preparing polyoxymethylene and polyoxymethylene copolymers from the formaldehyde.

Abstract: A housing for electrical or electronic devices or components comprises a molding (1) of thermoplastic material which has at selected locations on its surface electrical conductor tracks (5) with contact pins (3, 6) attached at predetermined locations, the conductor tracks (5) being covered with a layer (8) of thermoplastic material. A multi-layer molding is preferably concerned here, with conductor tracks being located between at least two layers and possibly also having applied to them electronic components, such as sensors, microswitches or surface-mounted devices, which are optionally encapsulated at the same time.
Abstract: A process for producing a composite article from at least one polar thermoplastic, in particular an engineering thermoplastic, and from at least one foamed or unfoamed polyurethane elastomer, where a molding is firstly molded from the thermoplastic, and some or all of this is provided with an adhesion promoter based on acrylic-resin lacquer or polyurethane-resin lacquer comprising solvents, and then a coating which may be in full-surface or strip form or at least one other molding made from the polyurethane elastomer is used for overmolding, and the thermoplastic material is thus bonded to the polyurethane material.

Abstract: Electrets can be produced from cycloolefin copolymers (COCs), and charges applied thereto are stable for long periods, even at high temperatures and high relative humidities. The reduction here in a positive charge applied to the COCs is smaller than that of negative charges applied to the COCs. The stability over time of the charges applied is impaired by adding polar additives, such as inorganic silicon compounds. Films, fibers or nonwovens produced from electrets can be processed to give filters.
